I've been following this guide https://3ds.guide/installing-arm9loaderhax and just got the part where you 'SysNAND Restore (keep a91h)' but now it tells me that there is no usable file, and I can't find the backup. Is there any way for me to rectify this?
Already looked in /files9/ , it doesn't look like theres a backup in there. Any way to reset this whole thing so I can try to restart?

okay to restart it i think this one works but im just gonna say it "update your firmware" but im not recommending it unless the one im about to tell you doesn't work

go ahead and go into the place where your suppose to restore the NAND and tell me the options then we'll continue

With

When I click "SnsNAND Restore (keep a91h)" it asks me to do a series of button presses (left, up, right, up, a) then right after that tells me there is no usable files.

Restoring someone else's NAND backup will brick the system. Never suggest that idea again, please.

https://3ds.guide/move-emunand
If you're trying to move emunand contents over to sysnand then follow that instead

Where would I find the emunand contents

Do you have any way to factory reset this so I can retry as a fresh slate?

Place your emunand backup in the files9 folder on your sd card. Also make sure you are using the latest decrypt9.

Did you make an emunand backup before you started this process?

If you did it would be labeled emunand.bin or something similar on your sd card. If you did not make a backup or it is no longer there you will need to do a 9.2 ctr nand transfer, but you will lose your games and save data (I am assuming you did not backup your saves and tickets too).

If you still have the emunand partition on you sd card you can use emunand9 to clone your emunand to your sysnand but you will have to start the a9lh process over again.

I'm fine with losing those, barely had any.

I just realized that I'm dumb.

The solution is actually very simple.

1. Open decrypt9 and go to emunand options.

2. Backup emunand.

3. Go to sysnand options and restore sysnand (keeping a9lh) using the emunand backup you just made.

4. ??????

5. Profit.

I do not know if this will work with hourglass9 since I have never used it.

This is also assuming you are using the sd that has your emunand.

Holy shit stop recommending this. You don't know whether OP is on an O3DS or N3DS, and doing this on an N3DS is a guaranteed brick.

I know you're just trying to help, but for the love of god don't try to help if you don't know what you're talking about.

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.

I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.

Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
