A friend of mine who has never delved into homebrew stuff decided to go through with the AL9H installation upon the release of soundhax since he was curious to try game mods, he's very much not into piracy and he had a lot of purchased digital games from the eshop.

When it got to the point about restoring tickets, he mistakenly chose to install from CDN, which started a long process with lots of errors.

Now that it finished, he is missing almost all of his games, except for demos, pokebank and a game from a humble bundle.

I am pretty sure he chose the option to delete tickets after installation, so now he's out of luck there. He has a backup of his NAND from version 11.1 (which he was originally at), but no ticket backup.

He is getting errors 009-6106 and 007-6106 when attempting to redownload his games from the eshop (and themes).

He's never used freeshop or downloaded any pirated game.

What can he do?

Try tikSweep, it will get rid of tickets that aren't associated with an installed app.

I am going in circles trying to find an entry point for home brew in order to run menuhax or alike I think it is possible to use arm9 however this seems a little too hard. I also have a o3dsxl on 11.2 firmware and although I used sound hax for homebrew I can't find a way to run menuhax or a cfw. I own a dstwo+ card if that helps.

For the 3ds on 2.1, you can install a9lh directly.
For the other on 11.2, you cannot use menuhax because the flaw that uses is fixed in that version, but following extra steps you can also have CFW on it

However, a possible reason for my many failures could be the version my system is currently at: N3dsXL 10.5.0-30E. Checking the list of compatible versions (https://github.com/nedwill/fasthax/blob/master/source/exploit.c#L336) tells me that mine isn't supported.

What should I do in this situation? Would it be safe to have the console update itself to 11.2 and then try again with soundhax? Or have I accidentally picked the absolute worst version to squat on and are now completely screwed?

Try running this before running safehax with a game cart inside your 3ds.

If after a few times does not work, I would update to 11.2(I'm not sure if this is really necessary) and follow the 3ds.guide

Edit: don't forget to download decrypt9 and put the Decrypt9.bin on your SD card's root and renaming it as arm9.bin

Yes. Luma blocks native_firm from being messed with, but short answer yes.

1. Advances have made it no longer necessary to downgrade to 9.2 to access k9, and so it is now left out.
2. Fasthax only escalates permissions, and if it fails you only have to reset your system. This part of the process is safe, if you're not careful afterwards though (with the power it gives you) then you can brick. Just follow guides to the t.
3. Don't format the console. No longer necessary.

It will allow for the creation of actual custom firmwares, not just patches. Expect totally revamped home menus and much more.

nice maybe we'll get 12 hour time insted of 24 hour time , i wonder how it will work, would we have to redo a hack or will it just be a file to place on the SD Card?

It will be a little more complicated than putting a file on an sd card, but since you already have a9lh, and essentially full system control, it won't be nearly as annoying as it was to initially install a9lh.

well the important part of the bootrom dumped! news is that it will be possible to sign firmware images. they will definitely not sit on the sd card, they will sit nice and comfy in the nand flash and since they are signed, bootrom(hacked) will load that firmware, thinking it's a signed version by Nintendo. as of right now, a9lh payloads are necessary to patch the actual signed firmware image after bootrom checked its integrity, but before home menu is booted. with what's to come, nothing from an original Firmware has to be patched, it will simply be loaded as is.

i was thinking, before anything is loaded when booting the system, there should be a list of menu options, like load D9W,Hourglass9,load Luma3DS Settings,boot to 3DS' System Settings, and boot to 3DS' System menu, also if you dont touch anything for 30 seconds (can be changed by user) the 3DS will boot into the system menu. mainly i hope for this so that is would be hopefully make the 3DS unbrickable.

But the 2DS still want to connect to that same account but it cant cuz the account is now on the N3DSXL. How do I remove the account info from the 2DS so I can be able to create a new account on the 2DS so I can Update the games and play online, etc?

You could use the unban method too IIRC, but what's the point in that if you're not banned
