So I'm gonna buy an R4i Gold from nds-card.com, I'm was planning on just using it on my old DSi but I'm also buying a N3DSXL this week. Seeings as the card is compatible I was wondering if Nintendo can actually tell if we're using a Flash Card on our systems or not.

I'm not particularly interested in custom firmware and all that, literally just playing DS games. I'd prefer if my 3DS didn't get bricked or booted offline right after buying it.

Thanks Guys.

It shows up as a legit game, to Nintendo and all the people on your friend list it will just look like you're playing that game.

It still registers in the activity log (Which i'm sure everyone forgets exist) So for instance it may appear on someone street pass in mii plaza i think if you set it that way.:ninja:
Can confirm. My friend saw "R4i-SDHC" when he streetpassed me with my R4, and "ALEX RIDER STORMBREAKER" when he streetpassed me with my DStwo. Never got banned for it though.

To be honest, if you wanna be safe about stuff like this, don't use it, or turn wifi off during use. The fact is you can either not use it or somehow be able to manipulate the activity log to remove that information after each use. if there is a activity log blocker homebrew that be useful to the paranoid. (no offense)

Nintendo can't tell, cause all the 3ds does is report what's in use by the console, which it detects is whatever game is in it. In its eyes, if it can play it, its legit. Plus Nintendo can't tell what client ip's actually own which games. Same applies for cfw's, as they are meant to emulate a legit system as closely as possible :)

I don't think it reports street passes....
Plus they can't tell what ds actually street passed him anyway. You can plea "it could have been thousands of others" cause, ya know, street pass

I'm don't think you're aware about how Mii Plaza works...

EDIT: Never mind, your reply was in context with what you were saying in your other post. But regardless, the 3DS does report the last used software, which is what appears when you StreetPass somebody.

Sorry I meant it doesn't report to online servers who was street passed.

I was referring to the fact that the 3DS still records your usage of DS carts and can send it to others despite going offline. But Nintendo definitely does collect usage information through the internet, although I'm pretty sure they're required by law to ask the user to opt in to that type of data collection.

This will never happen. You have nothing to worry about.
Well if he uses a clone gateway card he can brick b/c of the kill code gw put in it
And if the seller was a complete dick, he could sell him a hyperbanned console
