My 3ds works with MenuHax + Luma, I don't have A9HL (I'll install it, sooner or later).
I'd like to update my emunand to the last version, but I don't know if my menuhax was patched by Nintendo in one of the last releases.
My emunand is a 11.0033, can I update to the last one without issues? Because right now I can't use Spotpass, it asks for the update.

Emunand and sysnand are seperate so updating the emunand won't override your 9.2 sysnand so it should be fine

MenuHax only works with 11.0 and below, see here: https://github.com/yellows8/3ds_homemenuhax

So, go with a9lh, and forget about your Emunand.

I believe there was a HBL CIA to boot it no matter what your firmware is. As long as its installed, you can boot hombrew. And emunand is separate from sysnand, so no matter what version of emunand you have, whether 11.0 or not. I'll explain below.

A common misconception about things like brwserhax is that they say that they only support such and such system version, but that's not nessicerilly why. They say that because that update version patches just the browser simply, so no matter what, if you have FBI installe you can downgrade the browser anyway and keep browshax

Sorry, you lost me. I'm a bit confused.
I have a sysnand with 9.0020, and menuhax. BrowserHax is the old entrypoint we used in the rxtools era, right? Wasn't it patched?
I remember that after the 10.6 menuhax was patched, but if my sysnand is still 9.00 and I update just the emunand... should't it work?

(I tried to install A9HL several months ago, but I had some issues reimporting my emunand. To tell the truth I don't remember why - data corruption of some sort - , I guess I'll try again.)

Yeah, old era was 9.2 sysnand + updated Emunand, now you can get rid of Emunand by using A9LH.

If you updated your Emunand to 11.x you'll be fine, since the exploit you are using, "MenuHax" its working on your Synand 9.2, not on your emunand.

However, i recommend doing a9lh.

I have the impression you're confused. If his NANDs are unlinked, they have nothing to do with each other, and he uses MenuHax to boot CFW. As such, updating EmuNAND won't affect MenuHax (aka his entrypoint). With that said, A9LH is still the best option.

you can allways use browserhax/menuhax as long as your sysnand stays on 9.0
and if you want to launch homebrew channel on updated emunand just install homebrew launcher cia

It's not exactly "old era". It still works fine, but it IS rendered obsolete by A9LH. What I mean is, there's no actual issue in keeping it while updating EmuNAND/RedNAND to 11.2 (despite being a bother to live under stress when updating "am I in the right NAND", and to have to install AGB and TWL titles to both NANDs).

  • And wasting space due to emunand.
  • Slower Boot Rate.
  • Not 100% Boot Rate.

Well, sure. But it is still usable and works as it originally was intended to (unlike RXTools, for example). Also, A9LH doesn't necessarily mean lack of an EmuNAND. I personally sometimes use one when I want to mess with stuff.

I do agree it is slower, but it is 100% . Not really wasted space either
No major 3ds game is less then 1gb anyway, and you wouldnt do this with
Anything less then a 16 GB SD, so those aren't nessicerily cons

It is not 100%. MenuHax does sometimes fail to launch (aka yellow screen) and force you to hard reset the console.

For me it does 100%. Might seem like I'm lying but it only crashes yellow when the exploit doesn't have the ram to run. That only happens because the 3ds doesn't clean it on forced/just press power shutdown. It won't if you close the software your using first, then shutdown your system

It's not 100%, regardless of the cause. With A9LH, regardless of Sys or Emu/RedNAND, bootrate is 100%.

Even if it isn't 100% for others I doubt someone will risk a brick for a 10% better boot rate bro.

Like that sprint (might be T-Mobile) commercial with the guys getting haircuts
"Would you pay twice as much for a 1% better haircut then me?"
