Hacking The best reason not to use coldboothax yet

Reading over all the exiting news and the recent „RedNAND vs SysNAND+IOSUHax“ i was often wondering myself, if it really is so difficult and dangerous to install coldboothax, the one thing most of us are excited for right now. Reading smealums instructions on github, it doesn't seem so difficult at all:

Start wupclient.py
Download system.xml
Edit a certain title-id to boot your hacked VC-Game
Reupload edit system.xml
There you go

So I understood what to do and it seems tempting, but still - your system will DEPEND on this unaltered file in order to boot up. Let's just suggest everything works out just gread and you're booting right into your custom fw.img. No matter if you install it into your MLC or on your USB-Harddrive - If you delete your hacked VC-Game it by accident, if it gets corrupted by accident or if your internal or external memory dies - Everything is down the drain, goodbye WiiU-System.

Perhaps these thoughts that finally brought me to the decision to wait and be happy with the custom CFW- and HBL-Launchers this great community assembled will help you to join me. Because perhaps this is a little more satisfying than „Don't even try to - You'll never get it“-Quotes. Although I can understand a certain frustration about people not reading shit and yelling stupid questions inbetween, sometimes you guys could chase away new people that could learn and grow to become valid and eager members of this community. Most of the time I'm reading here, for years now before registering.

Allow me to ask this: I accidentally corrupted the Dr. Kawashima DS game which I was using for coldboothax, and I was able to delete it and redownload it just fine. My Wii U is not bricked anyway

It would be, if you'd edit your system.xml like i describe in my op. And if it would not get into a boot-loop then. And if the file does not get corrupted. Because if it does, there is no booting anymore, no redownload and nothing fine

is there a good tuto on how to dump / restore the slc with the teensy. The pinuts are on the wiki, but nothing like a full tutp with multiple success confirmation.

This could allow to unbrick in case of issue with the coldboothax.

Haxchi has never and never will be coldboothax, 'nor was it ever advertised as coldboothax. Haxchi simply opens up the door for coldboothax, however unstable it may be.

With hacked VC (Fix94 button config released) in quicklaunch menu, coldboothax is pretty useless imho.

If you want have to unplug your wii u each tiem you want to turn on you console.
Turn off standby.
