Hi all... After the debacle with my fake copy of Fire Red (and all 4 other Gen III games), I bought an EZ Flash IV for my Slot-2. Given that I have been extremely happy with my R4i SDHC Dual Core in my Slot-1, I figured, what the heck? Well... Setting up my EZ Flash when it came in yesterday, I realized in my haste that what I want may not even be possible. After exhaustive searching online and in the forums, I must ask...

Can I somehow trade/migrate between a Gen 4 PKMN game in my Slot-1 from my Slot-2 EZ PKMN game. If not, what ways can I make this possible to where I retain my original pokemon? Please help! And sorry for the newbishness.

Thanks :-P

He could buy an ez flash 3 in 1 and use the Pokepatch on diamond, Pearl, or platinum, but there's no way with an ez flash IV.

cory1492 ported out the patch made for the EZ3 in 1 to various other carts, including the EZ4. I am not sure what goes with the newer 2013 EZ4s or the microSD(HC) models. The original EZ4 models/ones still with DS mode could also use the NOR to fake a GBA game (phoenix wright unlock, advance wars bonuses http://nintendo.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_DS_games_with_GBA_connectivity ) but with the lack of DS mode in the current models and loaders then that functionality is gone, equally those which did more than a header check and needed saves might be troubled.

Back on topic it works by patching the DS game to read from SRAM as opposed to flash and setup the NOR and do whatever else. Not much chance you could port it to cheats but you can dump the DS save, run it with a patched DS ROM on a DS cart, do all the pal park or whatever it was and then transfer the save back to the original if you wanted it.

Most people however just use desmume as it saves faffing with flash carts and for the most part is a one shot deal.

Huh, did not know newer EZ4s didn't have DS mode or NOR. Cool stuff, mine does have those.

New EZ4s still have NOR -- same 16 meg PSRAM, 32 NOR arrangement it has been for however long though I suspect a soft lock for the SDHC stuff as the chip listings say higher values ( http://gbatemp.net/threads/new-ez4-sdhc-in-house-at-gbatemp.381182/#post-5333429 ). The DS mode was dropped in the 2013 supporting versions and definitely gone for the SDHC stuff, which is a bit of a pity as I would not have minded a SDHC supporting DS ROM dumper.

Thanks all for the prompt responses and incite. So, with Desmume, I can copy saves to comp to use with emulator and transfer between games? Given that documentation with the EZ-Flash IV was extremely limited, is it possible to dump a save file like using Rudolph on R4?

EDIT: Nevermind lol. I guess if I'm playing a Fire red rom on EZ FLASH it will have to make a separate save file, no dumping required lol. Sorry

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
