That's good news for me,i still use cheat codes with some games.
BootNTR can do that too though.
http://gbatemp.net/threads/bootntr-11-1-nfirm-support.441566/
Usage is as simple as loading cheats into a "plugin" folder on the SD card, and installing BootNTR.
Once you run BootNTR from the home menu, run the game you want to cheat in, and press X+Y to open a realtime menu. From there you can use your cheats plugin.
You'll know it has worked if the Nintendo 3DS logo screen flashes green whilst the game is booting.

Gateway cheatcodes can be converted to NTR cheat plugins as well.

Please read the posts above. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should or it's officially supported.
For that matter, Gateway's own A9LH installation method is actually far worse than the Plailect guide, it breaks DS game support.
The official Gateway a9lh.bin file doesn't work with the Plailect guide setup either, unless you use a workaround.

Really you should just be moving away from using Gateway completely, and just opt for a nice big memory card in your 3DS to kept all your games installed in a single place.

I also use NTR,but it still not near good as the cheat engine for gateway.

I just dualboot into an EmuNAND. Luma3DS default, Gateway with a button press. Best of both worlds ;) And I can create multiple saves (one CIA, one .3DS) :P

When in Gateway Mode, I don't think the version string says "GW3D". If I remember, mine says "EMU" or something like that. Is this normal? When I was setting up A9LH/Luma, someone in another thread said that EmuNAND is no longer needed and that I should remove it... Thoughts/help appreciated on all this

On the latest firmware version (11.1) Do you think it'd be worth the investment now? I held back on getting GW because it apparently bricked consoles, and I don't want to update from 11.0 and lose Menuhax.

It says "GW3D" in Gateway Mode. It only says "Emu" in Luma3DS. EmuNAND is no longer needed, but when you only use sysNAND, you should only update with Luma3DS (or else you'll brick)

No, GW won't work on 10.7+ (9.2+ actually, but a downgrade is possible). I'd recommend getting a CFW and A9LH. But here is the catch. Because you're on 11.1, you only have two options:

  1. Downgrade with a hardmod
  2. Downgrade with another 3DS that already has arm9loaderhax
See Plailects Guide: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Firmware-Downgrade

How do I safely update with luma?

You only have to start Luma3DS. What's your current setup? You have EmuNAND with Luma3DS and arm9loaderhax? Then just start up settings and when it says "Emu" you can update.

I have a9lh and luma. I don't think I have emunand. In gateway mode, it says emu in front of version string. Says sys in normal boot. Not sure how to safely update...

Gateway just made a 11.1 update, still I use it as payload in luma3ds using the down key on the d pad, hate that it doesnt go straight into gateway mode, instead it goes to the gateway menu (previously you had to press L after the dragon appeared in order to get to that menu) and you need to press L, R or select in order to get into gateway mode. Any workaround for this?

How should I go about updating? It says "sys" in front of version string in normal mode, and "emu" when using Gateway. Thoughts and help on how to proceed appreciated [emoji4]

No offence, but how did you manage to install a9lh when you don't know simple tasks and procedures by now and have a post count of 2.046. To update, update in luma sysnand (sys) only and not emu.

The information you've provided is incorrect. Gateway's arm9loaderhax.bin works just fine with community A9LH. The guide you linked is for people who want to chainload through Luma.

Gateway's cheat engine is far superior than NTR, and you shouldn't be telling that user to jump through hoops just to use something that's inferior. Especially since the user already owns a Gateway.

Running Gateway is simple, and if you own one, there's no reason for one to stop using it. Their Fast boot however, is a completely different story.

This is wrong. GW's bin used to work with a9lh v1, but it stopped working with a9lh v2. That's why this guide with v2gw exists.
I agree with the rest of the post though.

I am unable to update System FW to 11.0. My N3DS has A9LH and Luma installed. Anyone else have this issue and or know a fix? I even tried updating Luma and also tested internet connection on my N3DS... Not sure how to proceed :(
