Hacking recover saves from a dead ps3 hdd

my ps3 YLOD, i would like to get the saves and whatnot from the HDD...
i have a nand backup, can i extract the eeid from the nand or something to load the hdd on the computer, and extract the data?

i had found ps3 hdd utility, but it requires eid_root_key

If you had CFW on your ps3, it could dump the key. Not sure how you'd get it if the ps3's already dead.

that's the thing... i know i could dump it, but the console doesn't boot, all i have is a nand backup the hdd and the anvil itself..
i am trying to figure out if the key i need can be found or extracted from the nand

You might have to go to one of those expensive data recovery places...

why? the HDD is encrypted with a key that the console uses. it is not damaged, and data isn't "deleted" or lost...
