So, what's been going on?
As far as me and Olmectron goes...
  • I was able to give him some code for Forwarder3-DS related to external templates
    • Auto-detect the banner offset
    • Auto detect the GamePath start offset and length if you wrap the game path white-space between <<<Start NDS Path and End NDS Path>>> in the source code... This is what I mean...
    • Olmectron also decided to make Forwarder3-DS open source
I was also able to make a forwarder template that modifies the ini files and boots the actual slot-1 (so things like RTS work)

I also have some code that could be put in the templates to allow per-game ARM9 speed boost if Olmectron decides to add that option to the app

If you're wondering, my template can be found here, it's based off of NitroHax / NTR Launcher... it can modify the ini for both Wood and YSMenu... I've only tested it on a R4i Gold RTS but in theory it should work on anything that uses Wood or YSMenu as the default kernel and has a DLDI available to patch it with...

@Robz8, which ini do you modify for DSTwo so that it auto boots?

Use short names for games ,
and install in sysnand and emunand
Thanks! It started working. I'm trying to find every way, short of purchasing a DSi flash cart, to play my DSi-Enhanced Pokemon with DSi capabilities. Just can't tell if it's working as the games have no save files.

Whenever I try to boot a forwarder, I just get to the rom selection screen and hit a wall. Is there anything I'm missing? DSTWO user here.

Did you click on each game in the app and put the correct Game Path (the game and name the NDS file game will be in your Flashcard's microSD)?

Try running the game on an emulator for PC, then save the game and copy the save over to the DSTWO.

EDIT: I haven't played the game.
Just tried that, but still the same error. Actually it is a problem of the rom (or the card with that rom), not the .sav file. Because the Japanese version of the rom works perfectly but both the USA and EUR roms won't work (they both freeze at "creating adventure log"). Do you have any idea on how to fix this?

Do you have a legit copy of the game? If so, you could try dumping it yourself.

Check "Games are on SD Card", and select the ROM on the flashcard.

No luck, sadly :( I think I may have messed up my twlBG.cxi though, seems like it is a 0 byte file. I've tried to repatch it from the start, but the batch now fails saying that cp is not "recognized as an internal or external command".

The files autoboot.ini and autobootglset_.ini are unique to autoboot.nds. autobootglset_.ini was originally globalsettings.ini.

The game path's .ini file is modified at sd:/_dstwofwd/autoboot.ini by the template, and is then copied to slot1:/_dstwo/autoboot.ini after the DSTWO is booted.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
