So, I was following Pialects guide.
And at part 3, step 27 (https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-3-(RedNAND))it tells you to update your RedNAND.

However, after updating: When I start Luma3DS from my homebrew launcher it goes to the little screen that says "Starting Home menu...". And then it goes to a black screen.

Did I do anything wrong? Is the latest version maybe not supported yet or something?

I followed the instruction and everything worked fortunately. Can you tell me if it's safe to update the Nintendo system in the configurations? Moreover if it is safe to download and install game updates?

If you are running Luma3DS, Firmware protection is built in and turned on by default. So you should be safe to update through the system settings.
As well you can download and install from the eShop, this includes games, updates, and DLC for both the games your legally own and illegal backup.

Just to reinforce the point, you can safely update within any CFW that has FIRM protection. That includes Luma, CakesFW, ReiNAND.

Do NOT update from within rxTools or Gateway as they do NOT have FIRM protection.

I made a little mistake and accidentally deleted the Health & Safety app I had backed up (hs.app). Any way I can dump that again? It's not a big deal but I'd sorta like to restore it just for aesthetics...

Well...It doesn't really need much if any improvements...I don't know what needs to be changed...since it works as it should...

Mostly because of Aurura Wright not being around, but also probably because of a reduction of things left to actually fix.

i thought she'll going to add the feature "no-sd boot"
some people says its working on nightly builds, but i want an official release...

but anyway, "mandatory sd boot" have its own pros, such as security, if we remove our sd, no one will mess the 3ds, even if they put their own sd, people will not mess up our personal sd.

Talking about the mandatory SD boot...I had a mini freak out when my 3ds switched off by itself even with the SD in it...apparently I had put it wrong or something...reinserting it after blowing on it for good mesure and it got detected...XD

Why not use the nightly? As you say, the feature has been working for weeks. I don't think I've ever used the feature other than when initially testing it.

Looks like it's improved compatibility for older firmware (for EmuNAND experiments I suppose), plus some improved error handling.

The boot without a SD card is already a reality but it is not related to Luma, it is related to the arm9loaderhax fork installed on your system.
I updated my installation two weeks ago with Aurora's arm9loaderhax fork latest update. It works perfectly.

ShadowNAND is basically the same thing, I asked twice what the differences were between ShadowNAND and Aurora's fork but had no answer.
