Are you using YSMenu or the original kernel? YSMenu is good but it may be better as a secondary kernel for these cards.

Get the R4i-SDHC folder from Retrogamefan's multi-cart update. Extract the contents to your SD. It includes the ysmenu.nds file, press it to launch.

I posted this in another thread but you can set ysmenu.nds to run from the main menu by editing multimedia_path.ini in the R4iMenu folder, this way when you select the middle icon it will be YSMenu that runs instead of Moonshell. Good way to boot YSMenu quickly when you need it.
