The Sonic series is no stranger to fanmade projects that aim to improve upon classic games. That's the case with the announcement of Sonic Rush Rerun, a fan effort that is attempting to take the original game, remaster it, and use elements from later games in the series in order to refine the gameplay. A trailer was uploaded, offering a teaser of gameplay changes and a sampling of the soundtrack remixes. More information is promised for the Sonic Amateur Games Expo (SAGE), which is coming up this month, on September 19-26th.

Sonic Rush Rerun is a fan remastering of the Nintendo DS title “Sonic Rush”. The idea behind this remaster is to take the greatest strengths of the Sonic Rush trilogy, crank them up to 11, and combine them together to bring this game formula to its PEAK. We want to make a definitive version of Sonic Rush for PC with additional content and to fix the problems with the original game.

Love the stylized look. Not sure if that's their own artwork but it really pops.

Never played these, but can't wait to see how they hold up. Seems they'll be adding some QoL as well, which is always welcome.

The only ones punished by "anti-piracy" measures are the legitimate customers.

And far too often the legitimate copies are worse off than the pirated ones, because the added software doesn't mesh with the game well and may cause slowdown, crashes, lost saves, or worse.

Hey remember that other DS Sonic game remake? That's dead.

Depends on the drive of the team/modder. Not every attempt is successful, and not every attempt is shut down by corporate meddling/intercession. Can't win them all, sadly.

I never got into this game back in its day but kept it on my list of games to try again someday. Maybe when this gets released I'll give it another shot.

Love this and hope Rush 2 gets one too.
I'd like to see the cutscenes and dialog clean up too if possible, maybe some level design improvements, it did feel awfully floaty and lots of instant death pits, sudden slow down before the exit with ibstant death pits, humph.
Maybe Blaze can have her own soecial stage finally.
Oh and make the bosses less waiting challanges.

Great to hear some music remixes too those are great.

Sonic colors I wouldnt consider a Rush game but I would love to see a faithful fan game of what Rush 3 could have been and we honestly should have had to end the series on.

Sonic fans are passionate folks alright, good to see this happening.
