It would be great if some one would make a media player homebrew :D

I think you can do this if you own a ds mode flash card, not completely sure though. But I do agree that it would be nice to have that.

Another option (which also supports 3D) is converting them to MJPEG AVI of less than 10 minutes, and playing them through the camera app (on the downloads site, iirc, there's even a romhack of the camera that uses a separate folder)!

And if streaming is acceptable for you, the N3DS browser is the best movie player available right now!

sadly they didnt rom hack to either increase or remove the 10 minute limit :'(

It may not necessarily be possible (for the purpose of fitting a whole commercial movie): as you may know, these time limits are because "records over 30 minutes in a row" means that legally it's a video camera and gets extra import taxes in the EU...

...that's why most real digital cameras only record 20/25 minutes. The Nikon D3100, though, was limited to only 10, and after patching the limit, it crashed at around 17 minutes, because the frame counter in memory was only 16 bit unlike the higher end models!

i was talking about a hack to remove or increase the 10 minute limit..
i know nintendo had their reasons to put a limit, (i don't care about that)
i just wished that now with cfw and cheats there was a unnoficial way to remove the limit..

Yep, and I explained why removing the 10-minute limit may reveal a 16-minute limit that can't be practically fixed...

SunShell and that video converter only work with bloated jpeg or bmp movies. We do need a better solution for mkv, avi, etc ...

EDIT: You can use Plex to stream media to your 3DS through the browser and it supports 3d video!

That is N3DS only. For MP4 stuff, I recall a "PoC thread" that had something that could do it, but the PoC was way too quick (not normal speed for mp4 videos) and didn't have sound.
