I've been thinking about replacing the save file for Pokemon Yellow (VC) with one from my actual cart. My only problem is that my New 3DS XL is on the latest non-custom firmware. I was thinking that it would be easier to dump my cart's save and trade the Pokemon wirelessly using Bluetooth and an emulator. I haven't been able to find any information about this, though. Does anyone know if anyone has attempted a plugin or fork of any GameBoy emulators with this feature? Does anyone even know the protocol that the Pokemon Virtual Console games use?

To be frank, as long as your N3DS XL isn't update to the latest firmwares, you probably have a better chance to downgrade it,
rather than write up a whole new program to match the encryption and bandwidth of a 3DS, in order to perform trading.

To make things worse, the 3DS looks for another 3DS in order to trade locally, meaning that you're effectively creating a 3DS spoofer.

you might as well give your save to a friend to trade everything to you.

I don't really know if there's an emulator that can do that, most likely no, but you can inject a save using an save manager like jk or sdvt
