Hacking Gateway 3ds: A9LH, Downgrade, Release Planned on May 22nd

Yeah, its business strategy for forcing people to not buy DS2+'s. What of it though? It's not like a genuine Gateway car has bricked since the reintroduction of brick code.

Actually, many users reported getting their 3DS bricked even if they have auhentic GW carts even before the SCDS2+

And if my O3ds xl are still on 4.5 will i be required to update before using it?

The way they make it sound, maybe it will auto-downgrade you to 2.1, get your otp, then auto-upgrade you to 9.2? Only the beta testers would know for sure.

March 29th I started a hype train when Gateway updated their site with info such as in the coming days. A month and a half later they say expected in 1 week. No hype train for me this time. I believe it when I see it.

I just hope that , unlike other downgrade apps, Gateways downgrader/A9H will be usable with SmashHax, because that's the only Entrypoint I currently have on my New 3DS 10.7...

To lazy to quote everyone, but here's my 2 cents.

GW was the first ever to come up with a way to downgrade to 4.x (not to mention the first ever to have an exploit, PERIOD. And ALL CFW since were made possible by the initial reversing of their stuff). AFAIK, at the moment no homebrew will downgrade a system on 11.0.0-33. This GW downgrade will, and it will allow downgrading all the way (directly even?) to 2.1 to attain the OTP needed for a9lh. They are making this available to ALL with NO BRICK CODE INVOLVED. As was/IS the current O3DS 4.x downgrade. The brick code is only ever checked when trying to enter GW mode and hasn't bricked any systems since the initial version that was introduced. The upgraded brick code to tackle DSTwo+ never bricked a system with a legit cart. The Time machine will be run from HBL, so it's completely separate in the first place.

AND... Any a9lh.bin can be chain loaded by Luma, so I don't forsee any problems there, unless a path changer is needed for reboot trickery, as is needed with Luma3ds itself when used with bootanim9. That is my only worry... that perhaps obfuscation prevents a hex edit for that or actually hex editing a path will fail a crc check or something and either make it refuse to work, or trigger the brick code. I'd love to be able to say the answer for sure, but I wasn't chosen to beta test. Bastards. Told them long ago that I have both o3ds and N3ds hard modded and could beta test

What I´m a bit worried about:

Next, exclusively for GW users, the Gateway A9LH Installer is a highly integrated GW menu app, that auto detects system and state of install, considerably simplifying the install procedure especially for the N3DS.

Once the A9LH Installer is complete the console will now boot automatically straight into GW menu within a few seconds after powerup.

Does this mean we can´t play DS/Gba/Cartridge 3DS games anymore on the 3DS we installed, because it enters Gateway mode ?

Saddly, there is no Best Buy in Europe as there is no Ocarina of Time 3D as a Nintendo Select here...

So they're giving this Time Machine thing to the whole community for free is how I read it. Interesting.
Hopefully, it actually does make a9lh masterracing easier. (and I assume it has downgrading built in?)

Let's also hope it doesn't leave dirty files all over the NAND like their 4.5 downgrader did.
