Maybe they'll go hard on the online hacks that pop up. They're not going to let their flagship online games Mario Maker and Splatoon get spoilt.

Yea, my guess is that once a way to play games online with loadiine is available, Nintendo will play the cat and mouse game more often.

The eventually stopped caring and moved on but it's hurting them to keep pirates run wild. If I were them, I would definitely get rid of those two last exploits (userland and kernel) :P

Why would they do that when they're making bank on system sales with a console near the end of it's life thanks to pirates?

I think I've spent a lot of money on the Wii U.
Sometimes I get this feeling like saying fuck you Nintendo!
But well, that's life. At least Mario Kart 8 was good good.
Oh, I still have to buy Mirage Sessions, so there's still spending to do.
Meh. I hope the NX is great, but I will let it be at least for one year before getting one.

Letting people get their hopes up and buy then patch. Bye bye ;)

Good? You mean with crappy bikes, crappy item distribution and stupid "keep hopping to go faster" techniques? No thanks

Nintendo has all but a minor skeleton team working on NX by now either making tools or games or still FW code so yeah its very understandable, they released the wiiu with vwii errors so it could be hacked and they knew it they patched letterbomb but left twilight hack and smashhack and lego hacks that were used everywhere years before so its not like they care too much about pirating several surveys shows that piracy is less than 5% of all consoles user bases so their loss is very minor.

The userland (mp4 exploit) was out for ages now (more than 3 months) :P without any update
That's because they tried to patch it and they did jack shit to do so with 5.5.1. Also, all you can make with userland is shitty homebrew games that rely on an equally shitty race attack.

Don't take away my little consolation. Don't make me go grill this freaking console, please.

You say it's "easy" and yet we've literally had hacks that just require you to stick your SD card into a normal Wii and click on the SD icon on the home menu. I'd say this exploit is moderate difficulty for the technologically challenged.

When we get to Letterbomb levels of hacks for Wii U I'd be willing to say it's "easy".

In the current patch every Wii U owner has acces to a very easy exploit that allows them to basically do everything from homebrew to pirating.

Where is the update that patches the new found exploits? Where are the counter measures? Is this exploit that hard to fix? It seems like Nintendo doesn't care about the Wii U... people aren't even surprised that Nintendo isn't doing anything. It feels like Nintendo is completely dropping the ball lately... on everything.

Is anyone expecting Nintendo to fight against this exploit?

Its only been a week since the kernel exploit was released, give Nintendo chance?

Have you considered that Nintendo realizes that piracy sells consoles. Nintendo is already geared to stop producing Wii U hardware soon, they want to get rid of as many of their inventory as possible before they roll out the NX. So, really Nintendo doesn't really mind piracy for the Wii U, not anymore.
Rampant piracy on the PSP managed to help Sony clear out their entire PSP backlog.

Console makers rarely make money on the consoles themselves (the original Wii is the only system I can remember where a company made money on the console from the beginning of its lifespan). Consoles are typically delivery vehicles for software where the real money is made. Sony very likely took a huge loss on the PSP due to the system getting hacked so completely early in its lifespan, causing developers to leave the system in droves.

The homebrew install base is likely very small for them to not rush anything out, given that most wii u's are sold to children, ( I worked in a game shop I never once sold a wii u to an adult for them self and I sold a lot of them) they likely aint that bothered, also given that most people I served were thick as a brick they would have no idea how to run these exploits.

The Wii U is dead. Nintendo is already over the loss.
Deal with it.
I hate to admit it, but its true. They focus on the 3ds and NX now.

The Wii U hacking community is rather small, because its only at the beginning atm. The 3ds hacking community on the other hand is much bigger, only because it has become so much easier to softmod the 3ds because of easy access exploits (Browserhax)

That is the exact opposite of the truth. I'd spend the next 15 minutes gathering the sources to support my claim per usual, but this is such a radical statement it literally doesnt take more then common sense or a google search to know this is wrong.
