i decided to move from menuhax+rxtools to A9LH+aureinand, mainly because of the bootrate and bootspeed and cosmetic purposes

i used a blank sd card(8 GB) which i used to use previously on my 3ds before upgrading to a 16 GB one ...
and i still have my 16 GB one with emunand kept aside because it has my games..
enough of that..

so according to the guide, i had to downgrade my Rednand from 9.2 to 2.1 , so i download the necessary files put them in the sd card and proceed

i start the downgrade after formatting twice, it matches the patch version and 3ds version (old3dsU)
matches the checksum

but after installing a list of patches it suddenly pops out a "an error has occurred..please hold the power button..."

i restore the formatted emu nand backup then proceed again.... it show the same thing again

by the time of writing i have done this 4 times already and the last time i did , the error has occurred screen also ha "if this error persists, please contact Nintendo customer support" (which i obviously wont)

You need to upgrade your RedNAND to 10.7 before you downgrade it to 2.1. For some reason that I'm not going to pretend to understand, downgrading from 9.2 always seems to cause problems.

If it still fails make sure you're formatting twice before downgrading, etc.

that basically destroys me using another sd card , to prevent formatting my emunand ( i have many cia installed ... my friends added there .... and my nintendo id linked there D:)

Dumb question, why are you still booting into emunand? You should have injected emunand to sysnand and wiped emunand from the card completely..

When you switched to A9LH and followed the guide exactly, you transfered your EmuNAND to SysNAND and it should have all cias installed (if not just start reinstalling them and fbi will tell you that they already exist. Cancel install and after that the game should appear on home menu again). You won't loose any saves if you still have the Nintendo 3DS folder from the sd card where you had your EmuNAND on and can delete the EmuNAND from the card by backing all files on it, format and restore the files.

That's one of the main benefits of a9lh....if you kept a backup of your system when you were done setting up a9lh, you can flash it later on (even if you manage to somehow completely brick it by messing with system files, although this is obviously still not advisable). Updating sysnand is safe, and you get to keep everything you had set up on your emunand.

At that point, restarting is fine, just don't do it after you've selected to downgrade

Edit: I was thinking this was for a downgrade, not otp install....disregard

I would suggest you check the size of you otp.bin and if everything is in the right place(double check = minimize brick chance) and try again.
