Hacking What to Buy - 2.2.0 or 8.1.0 regarding installing a CFW

Hello there,
So I am planning on buying a Nintendo 3DS Console on which I want to install a cfw.
Should I either go for the one with Systemversion 2.2.0 or the one with 8.1.0? Which one would be easier, better or whatever to get the stuff running?

I have read that I can upgrade the lower version one with certain games to the required 4.0-4.5.
But I also read that any console up to 9.2 is fine?

Oh and I also have a R4 Gold card from 2014, perhaps itd be of help.

It would be pretty nice if someone took the time to explain it to me.

If u buy the 2.2 one I do believe you can take your OTP to the best hack metohd without risk. Howerver I dont know if 2.2.0 has a functional\hackleable browser. Someone may be able to tell it better.

Anyone of them is good for hacks, but only on system version 2.1-2.x u can take the OTP which are console unique keys and a are pre-requiste to install A9LH which lets u have full control of system and is unpatchable(if done and used right).

if you get the 2.2.0-X console, you can get OTP without getting the entire process. but make sure it has a functional browser! and make sure you have a game card that will let you update to 4.x+ (preferably 4.x, 6.x is good too). your flash cart might allow you to set up the DS profile exploit, so you can use cfw and update your sysnand to 9.2.0-20.

if you get 8.1.0-X, it might be easier to get updated to 9.2, and you can still do the entire OTP process if you wish to. you should also make sure this has a functional browser.

So basically it does not really matter which console i chose as long as it does have a functional browser?
By a functional browser u just mean an app on the device which lets u access the internet? Doesnt any 3DS Console have that?

OTP (one-time programmable) is basically console-specific keys. you can use this for a certain boot-time exploit called arm9loaderhax. it's similar to priiloader for Wii.

if you get the 2.2.0-X console, you should also have a game card preferably with versions 4.1 - 4.5, or 6.0 - 6.3. don't update before you get your console's "OTP".

consoles that were on 1.0/1.1 and updated with a game card don't have a functional browser. also, if the 8.1.0-X has "X" to be 10 or lower, it might not work properly for browser-based exploits.

if you are able to, are you able to get the full firmware? (e.g. 2.2.0-4E, 8.1.0-19E)

I dont remeber what OTP exaclty stands for, but is a region of the system which contain the Keys of your console, like an admin LOGIN on windows.

And also, if your 3ds has some verions like x.x.x-0 ->>> this 0 means he comes without a browser. There are several users who reported have bought consoles on 8.1.0.0 which is not hackleable unless u cave a cubic ninja\ocarina of time cartridge.

If u can get the full version number may help.

both of them have the right browser versions. also, do you have any 3DS game cards? which ones do you have?

yes. but since you don't have any more game cards, the 8.1.0-18E console is the better choice.

If u can buy a 4.5 game (luigis mansion 2 to name one if remeber correctly) I suggest to buy the 2.2 one

The 8.1 is easier to hacl, but in order to get your otp u will have to do a risky downgrade to 2.1 which would be awesome to dont* need to do

As a matter of fact it doesnt matter that i dont own a game as the lower version console is only 77€ while the other one is 90€.
So it would be the same price probably, if i buy the lower version console and a game.

there is no easy way to update it to 9.2 (or even 4.5) at the moment, without a game card. you do have a flash cart so 4.x/6.x would work for the DS profile exploit.

But that aside, just to get a cfw running without any extra stuff which is not necessary to do - what shall I do now? I admit I got a bit confused there.

in the end you would want to go to 9.2, but you can really only to go to 4.1 - 4.5 after getting your console's OTP. then go to 9.2 from there.

you can't actually run the homebrew launcher on 4.4, not even with ninjhax 1.1b due to the browser being too old.

you would use something called rxTools pasta mode + sysUpdater as cia to go to 9.2.0-20.
