Hacking Nintendo New 3DS XL - really need a flash card ?

Hi,

I have just ordered a new nintendo 3ds xl from amazon uk website, I do not know with which firmware it is coming but I ask my questions assuming it will be the latest version.

1. Can I downgrade my firmware to 9.2 ? And install custom firmware ?

2. I want to play 3DS games, I am not into retro stuff like gba roms, ps roms or homebrew.. Just the new 3d games i want to play.

3. Can I play online games with custom firmware ? or what shall i do for it ?

I really want to avoid flash cards as they are very expensive..

ill link you too a pretty good one and you can pm me for any help give me one second and also note roms are illegal unless you actually own the games i believe but you could still use them it is your choice

The first and most difficult step is the downgrade process, so just focus on that for now. Setting up CFW on 9.2 is a piece of cake.

You will need to find an entry point with which to load the Homebrew Launcher. If you're lucky, you will be on a version with an exploitable browser. If not, you'll probably need Ocarina of Time 3D or Cubic Ninja. From there, you can run SafeSysUpdater with the proper 9.2 downgrade files and downgrade to 9.2.

yep i second this was just about to post this althought im like 99% sure youll be able to get browserhax which is a free entrypoint althought youll have to make sure its on >10.6 fw

Fixed that for you. You meant to say less than 10.6, not greater than. To be clear to the OP, browserhax only works on system versions between 9.0-10.5.

This is a tutorial for your custom firmware your emulated nand/emunand and fbi to install cias which are basically icons on your emunand (your home menu but different youll see) that boot things like for example games like smash bros if you choose to install it or someones custom game or program that you find in a thread. That should be about it with just 2 simple video tutorials youll be done just make sure to follow it very closely and also make sure you have a screw drive to unscrew the back of your n3ds and get out the microsd card and youll also need a microsd card adapter and a computer and if it does not have an sd card slot youll also need an sd card reader. I know i didnt word this in the best way but i hope your fine and good luck ! and also if wanted you can google rxtools custom firmware instead of reinand because that lets you run region free games straight off your emunand including out of region roms and has a nice little menu or if you wanna stick with the tutorail that shows you getting reinand id highly suggest googling aureinand which is an excellent mod of reinand and is basically as simple as replacing some of those files with reinand which you can see how to by googling or i can link if you prefer

I am living Turkey, here nintendo is not in the market so I ordered from amazon uk and my friend will bring it to me in his suitcase next week. Cuz, if i ordered to deliver here i will have to pay a lot of import fees.

sky3ds+ is 75 gbp which is a lot expensive i think, with your help i can avoid this cost and install custom firmware and play games for free.

I do not know which firmware version it will come up for the moment, I will let you know what it is then i will need your help.

I'd really recommend Plailect's guide over going through videos like the one TheVinAnator linked to be honest, not only will most of them link to outdated files, you'll have to jump say from a downgrading one to a how to setup CFW one then onto an A9LH one if you want that. This will take you from start to finish to the latest and best way to use CFW on a 3DS and the guide is constantly being updated to make it easier.

You need a entry point. if it comes with 10.5 or less the browser is hackeable, but u only have 1 chance to do the downgrade right, as if u need to update to try again u will go to 10.7

If its on 10.6 or more, u need ocarina of time(plus a power saves device) or a cubic ninja game(can even be a rom on and old sky3ds red\blue chip, which is pretty cheap by now)
