1.Is there a certain way to format my sd card? I heard something about some type of partition

2.I understand to leave wifi on both emu and sysnand because you cannot go into wifi, however is it true you brick your n3ds if you close the lid while on 2.0?

Thank you guys!

1- Do you mean for emunand for mat or plain SD card format? If the former, you can use emunand9, else, you can just format with a SD formater program
2- you need to keep the wifi ON since you cannot togle it in 2.0, afterward, it's recommended to keep it anyway. As for closing the lid, I highly doubt it will brick. launching system setting shows 2.0, and that's about it.

If you plan on using emuNAND you don't need to touch the SD at all really.

Part of the OTP process is making an original non-A9 sysnand and emunand backup.

Once you have OTP, just use OTP helper to restore sysNAND and emuNAND back to the way it was. Then all you have to do is find your CFW of choice, place the arm9loaderhax.bin in the root, and boot to HBL on sysNAND and use SafeA9Installer to install A9 on the system.

If you're using AuReiNAND, it's pre-configured to boot straight to emuNAND if you don't use any options.

Once A9 is installed and you have your CFW, it should boot straight up to your existing emunand, no extra work required.

As far as #2, I've closed the lid and no brick. Then again, you're in 2.1 for all of maybe 3 minutes to grab OTP before restoring your system. The only important thing is after downgrading to 2.1, pull the SD card out and then boot the system. Once you're on the home menu, then you can pop the SD back in and carry-on with the OTP grabbing.

Edit: If you're going the updatedsysNAND route, the guide covers that pretty simply. Involves backing up a few elements from emuNAND and injecting to sysNAND. Though instead of formatting the card and messing around with things, I found it easier just to use a partition manager and extend out the partition to overwrite the emunand partiton. Either way works, and a backup is a good thing to have.

That's right. Make sure to carefully follow all the steps in the guide. It has to be unbricked before you flash it to sysnand.

Also, you might need to boot the console without the SD card after the downgrade. It could blackscreen if it's inserted.

But i thought once you DG emunand there is no way to access the emunand since no cfw can access that low of a FW? So how would i be able to check if it was indeed successfully unbricked?

OTP Helper does that all for you. It's in part 4 of the guide. OTP helper does the whole 9 yards from verifying a proper 2.1 downgrade, to unbricking the downgrade, then flashing the downgrade, then checking the sysNAND once again.

You just need to reboot on sysnand, then load the OTPhelper app, and select the unbrick emunand option. Once it is done, you dump on your sd card, then flash it to sysnand.

After that, it's a finger crossing game.

Should I use tubehaxDNS for my connection? I don't want the browser to get blocked.

There are only 2 CFW's that work with a9lhx?
There are three (theoretically 4): AuReiNAND, Cakes, ReiNAND, and rxTools.

rxTools support is still very experimental and highly dangerous to use.
ReiNAND supports it, but its implementation is surpassed entirely by AuReiNAND.

AuReiNAND and Cakes are on mostly equal levels of support. I personally would reccoment AuReiNAND over Cakes, because Cakes can still have problems decrypting the firmware using a9lh as an entry point (see: https://github.com/mid-kid/CakesForeveryWan/issues/26).

I am having a hard time deciding if i should use sysnand or emunand lol. Which would you recommend?

I personally feel that EmuNAND is no longer necessary. On a n3ds it takes up two gigabytes of space on your SD card, which, if you have less than a 64 gigabyte SD card, is somewhat substatial. Really, EmuNAND is not needed anymore, as AuReiNAND patches writes to the FIRM0/1 partitions of SysNAND, so you can upgrade through system settings safely.

Internetbrowser only works on sysnand.Does anyone know what is going on? Am i going to be forced to clone my sysnand onto my emunand?
