Hacking neek2o+di confusion running real Wii backups

I originally installed the kernel for NEEK support in USB Loader GX (which works great with WiiWare), but there are a few Wii titles proper (in WBFS format) that I'd also like to use under neek2o+di.

What I've done thus far:

- Put a WBFS backup in usb:/games/<subdir>/title.wbfs
- Put a GameCube backup in usb:/games/<subdir>/disc.iso

When I get into emunand via nswitch, all is well - I get the safety warning (as expected), emunand-only channels show up, and the button 1/button 2 hidden menus show up. Any GameCube backup shows up on the button 1 list (to specify what should be loaded into the Disc Channel), but oddly, *no* WBFS backups show up, period - whether they live in /wbfs or /games.

Drive is bog-standard FAT32 32KB clusters, 2TB drive in 2 1TB partitions, first partition is primary, 512K physical sectors, no GPT...should be perfect. In fact, if anything, I would have expected the Wii backups to show up and not the GameCube ones if there was an issue with the drive setup.

Kinda lost...any pointers?

Thanks,

Rodney

Are the Wii games on the second partition? I think NEEK only reads the first one. Just put everything on one FAT32 partition.

I've tried it both ways. For testing, I put one Wii game on the first partition in /wbfs/<subdir>/title.wbfs, and another in /games/<subdir>/title.wbfs - neither is seen.

I'm sure you named your iso's and wbfs's correctly, but for the sake of promptness I'll reiterate it since you said...
- Put a WBFS backup in usb:/games/<subdir>/title.wbfs
- Put a GameCube backup in usb:/games/<subdir>/disc.iso
All of your GameCube iso's should be named "game.iso" and if the game has a 2nd disc then the corresponding iso should be named "disc2.iso" The Wii wbfs's should be named after their [GAMEID] (unique to each game) and not the game's title name.

Placing the Wii games in the "games" folder wouldn't help because if I recall, homebrew is looking for iso's and extracted GC format in that folder, not wbfs files.

Another thing to try is refreshing Neeks game list cache. To do this press "button 2" to bring up the hidden menu and select "Recreate Game Cache". The option should appear down near the bottom of the list.

Yes, Gamecube games go in /games/ and Wii ones go in /wbfs/ regardless of whether they're ISO or WBFS.

Make sure your neek nand is in a subdirectory, too. (e.g.: "/nands/nanddump", not just "/nand/")

I'm not sure what fixed it, honestly. I did the following:

- Removed cIOS entries from emunand
- Replaced modified System in emunand with stock 4.1U
- Booted into uneek and cleared cache

After that, my Wii title showed up as expected and works perfectly - thank you!

Would have marked as solved, but can't find a way to edit the original title =)

One thing I forgot to ask...re: the suggestion to use subfolders under usb:/nand, why is that? I know it's beneficial if you are using emunands for different regions and the like, but in my use case, I don't really have any reason to split emunands, and everything seems to be working properly directly under usb:/nand. Any particular reason this is recommended?

neek2o expects the files to be in a subfolder. If you try to return from NEEK using something like the neek2o channel the console will crash instead of restarting.

Actually, my return works fine with all the emunand files under usb:/nand without a subfolder - still, for organization purposes, I'll probably split it out anyway in case I need a second nand for something later. Thanks. :)

Weird. My Wii locks up with a flashing drive light when exiting a WiiWare/VC game if my games are just under /nand/.
