Mario's Picross says "Game Boy Color" but it was actually only Game Boy (with Super Game Boy support).

This is awesome, though, I love Picross! Most evenings I will solve a couple of the e series puzzles before bed.

Oh, right, I forgot... i'll fix it on the next update.

When the time reaches over 99:99:59, the game crashes, with this error:

Oops, a Lua error has occured
Press Start to quit

./gamestate/puzzle/draw.lua:92: bad argument #1 to 'draw' (bad type)

Pretty much no one will bother to find this, but it might be fun to patch it anyways, just to look professional.

I was hoping nobody would try that :glare: It's meant to happen, it's trying to draw a 100 and it can't do it. The next update will make the game exit when that happens

It would be really cool if custom picross puzzles could load an image after the puzzle was complete similar to the way Pokemon Picross loads a colored pixel image after the puzzle is complete. This would make custom puzzles really fun to try and figure out what the final image is supposed to be.

This is really fantastic, btw! It's like the Super Mario Maker of Picross! Thanks for your hard work on this!

Thanks for this game. I'm really enjoying it! I tried out the free Pokemon Picross game which downloaded itself onto my 3DS and enjoyed the puzzles but found the Pokemon aspect of it a bit annoying, so this is perfect!

Just one question, how do you un-mark a square in which you have placed a block?

If you placed a block, it means you put it correctly, you aren't supposed to take it out :P

I don't want the game to 'guide' me that way. If I make a mistake, I would like to discover and fix it myself. So when I place a block wrong, don't let the game indicate it.

I don't want the game to 'guide' me that way. If I make a mistake, I would like to discover and fix it myself. So when I place a block wrong, don't let the game indicate it.

There are puzzles that are in "Free" mode, in which you aren't notified when you make an error and there is no time penalty. I'll implement that mode soon, but it won't be available for all puzzles.

Btw, I created a little "mod" with the Pokemon Picross Puzzles.
As a WARNING:
IT IS HEAVILY INCOMPLETE
  • It will only show the first 8 puzzles of each area
  • Opening "Area 25-30" crashes the game because I don't have access to the puzzles in areas 26-30 yet(Free to Play User here)
  • Opening a Puzzle with unsupported dimensions might crash the game or result in even wierder errors
    (thats basically every puzzle not 10x10 or 15x15)
  • No Images for the completed puzzles exist
I might update and inprove it later, but currently having to write exams in a few days I don't really have much time.
I also tried to touch as less of the original files as possible.
The Modified files are: gameselect menu, and levelselect code, to allow less than 8 puzzles per area

If you feel adventurous enough to try it, simply copy the files from the zip over the original ones.

How can such a thing be compressed on such a small file?... I'm not downloading that.

Its only about 240 very small textfiles + about 240 single color png images (all the same->compressed to the size of only one file)

edit: Oh wow, only just now I realized that I'm talking to the creator of the game :P
It's nothing special, only the puzzle definitions.
It doesn't add any Pokemon Picross specific features and as I allready said, I didn't even try to modify the code to support a different level select screen or even puzzles that are 15x20

Alright, what you did is pretty impressive, but honestly if you want to do your own levels it'd be better until you wait until I add more stable support for custom courses and levels :P

So I just used this as an "exercise" for my coding skills for my upcomming exam and created a small program that basically generated all the LUA files for me. (That's why all the course.lua files are not really formated for human redability) I only just modified the other files enough to get it to work at least somewhat :P

I'm definitelly waiting for custom Level support before working on it some more

No, just textfiles I allready have in a neat computer readable format:
One puzzle is basically a line that looks like this:
[[0,0,0,1,1,0,0,1,1,0],[0,0,0,1,0,1,1,1,0,1],[0,0,0,1,0,1,0,1,0,0],[0,0,0,1,1,1,0,0,0,0],[0,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1],[1,0,1,1,0,1,0,1,1,0],[1,0,1,1,1,1,0,1,0,0],[1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,0],[0,1,1,0,1,0,1,1,1,1],[0,0,0,1,1,1,1,1,0,0]]

(+some more info on the puzzle: Name, Pokemon Type, Missions, ...)
