HAHAHA! I have to say that was good for a laugh. Considering the Wii U only has a DVD Drive. Reading BluRay Discs will not be possible. But I suppose someone could write media player software for the Wii U that adds support for a portable USB BluRay drive.
I was hoping someone would catch that.

From what I understand, Wii U's proprietary disc format is likely very similar in specification to blu-ray the same way the Wii disc format was similar to DVD, and the Wii (earlier models, at least) was capable of reading DVDs albeit somewhat poorly. Not something I'd hold my breath about...but it should theoretically be possible

Reading up on the subject, the WiiU uses its own proprietary disc format (25gb single layered high density disc) which does resemble blu-ray, who's to say it wouldn't be possible with home-brew. I'm sure its not but I'm not entirely sure.

I stand corrected. Didn't know Wii U used a proprietary optical format. I guess should have verified the specs before commenting. I know I've read the specs a few times, but must of forgotten that detail. I don't think I will forget it now.

Sounds great.

Too bad the final sm4sh (which is like the only game I use the wii u for) update is coming till February, which probably this will be patched, and I dunno if you can install updates after modding :/

I wonder if the wii u will be able to play blu ray with this exploit. Would love to turn it into a home theater system.

So you guys want to be able to load games from a hard drive so you don't have to buy them, yet be able to insert physical blueray disks that you actually paid for into the system instead of just downloading blueray rips?

I figured the request would be codecs to play downloaded blueray rips, not the ability to play purchased and non pirated movies.

This thread never ceases to amaze me, it's so random and cray cray.

I have no reason to fake somebody else, once I already said I'm not on the scene and won't be back.
I don't even know why would someone impersonate another.

I don't like people impersonating my friends, so I will ask you a few questions you (if it's really you) should have the answer for:

What console did I get shipped to your place?

How did we get the idstorage keys for DCM?

What is your cat's name?

What cable did I ship over to you?

Who did the Russian translations for M33?

I am guessing you wouldn't mind confirming your identity over on skype either...

Actually, some of us like the comfy option of inserting your disc on the drive, installing the game into a external usb drive with a loader, and then getting better loading speeds and less noise while keeping the disc mint.
