Hacking Upgrade 7.1 to 9.2?

Hi Everyone,

I've discovered my 2013 2DS which I haven't used since, which has 7.1.0-15E on it.

I was looking for some assistance in upgrading to 9.2 in order to get started with CFWs.

Any help would be appreciated.

wrong order. you use cfw to update to 9.2 . . . and its all in this guide [Tutorial] Installing rxTools Custom Firmware - (3DS and 2DS)

Yup what wormdood said.

You get rxTools working via web browser and then use it to update to 9.2 so you will stop relaying in an internet connection to use it.

why not just stay on 7.3 and use MSET? it's the most stable entrypoint to CFW anyway.

the guide i gave you for rxtools includes homebrew channel setup as well

Sorry for my stupidity but I'm having difficulty finding that. The only Homebrew I can see online for 7.1 is Ninjahax which requires the purchase of Cubic Ninja

Am I missing something?

why use 7.3 and use MSET when you can use 9.2 and MSET along with theme support on SysNAND. as long as the upgrade is done correctly, there is no harm in moving to 9.2.

Thanks, but every method I try I just get the error "communication error" and the page doesn't load.

Internet connection is fine as I can view other legit sites.

EDIT: Browserhacks was down earlier today. Might still be the case.

I do not see any benefit of staying at a lower firmware when 9.2 has full access to everything, especially when we can downgrade should anything cool come out that would require a lower firmware than 9.2.

Solved one thing. The issue was that BrowserHax was down but for some reason my Routers DNS wasn't recognising it coming back up.

Put in google DNS into my 2DS and it loaded browserhax.

Now I'm getting the issue of the browser crashing when trying to start the exploit and the error message "an error occured". Ive tried clearing all browser data.

You're meant to keep trying. It sometimes won't work first time.

Still no luck . Someone on reddit told me Browserhax doesn't work on 7.1 so I'm wasting my time.

Does anyone know what the guide means by "Use the browser 'Initialize savedata' option."

follow this guide to launch rxTools with any firmware 9.2 and below:

if you really insist on updating to 9.2 and not use MSET, install rxtools first and launch sysupdater on pasta mode.
