I'm planning to buy a Wii as my next console, and I have a question:

If I soft-mod it (or buy an already soft-modded one), will I be able to play both Wii and GameCube games, and is homebrew supported?

Yes. For homebrew, Homebrew Channel covers that well. As for Wii backups, there's USB Loader GX (which I use), WiiFlow, and CFG USB Loader that all should work fine with current CIOSs (d2x is simple and decently supported). For GameCube backups, you have DIOS MIOS (Lite), Devolution, and my personal favorite and the one I recommend: Nintendont.

I'm having an issue with Neogamma. First I tried the HBC app which gave me an error, then I installed the channel and it gave me the same error. Here's the error: I plugged my USB drive into the top port and pressed "Press A to mount WBFS". The HBC app froze with the count at 24 tries, while the channel went all the way down to 0. With the channel, I don't think the Wii froze, but my Wiimote turned off when the count hit 24 and I can't turn it back on. I don't think this is an issue with the USB, because I get the exact same problem when I take it out. Could it be something on my SD card...? It seems normal to me as my other apps run perfectly fine.

Hi Guys,

I'm sure this is a total noob question, so my apologies to everyone. Everytime I try to load a game from USB Loader GX (I can see the game, download the game art, etc.), it takes me back to the wii menu. I've tried to attack this in like five different ways based on other answers I've read here, but can't get anything to work, and feel like I'm just making my wii a mess by blindly throwing things at it. The SD card is an 8gb HDSC card, which is maybe the issue? It seems based on some posts I've read that this isn't a big deal anymore, but according to older posts, it's a deal breaker. I can run N64 games on the emulator no problem, but the wii back ups don't work at all.

Below is my sys-check. Any suggestions are hugely appreciated.

SD support for loading Wii backups hasn't been implemented in USB Loader GX, yet. So you either need to use another loader or use a USB HDD/SSD.

Neogamma will load Wii games from an SD card but it will only read the Wii game from a WBFS partition, so that means you need to get a WBFS partition on the SD card.

Just use a usb stick that way you don't need to screw with trying to get the SD card working. I just bought a 32GB sandisc usb stick the other day for $13.

You have cross posted at least 3 different places
Had you read through one of the place you cross posted https://gbatemp.net/threads/usb-loader-gx-need-help-please.399044/
why not ask directly in the main thread if you read through it?
...
also, don't create multiple thread for the same issue.
I merged your threads together.
please continue to use it, so users helping you already know what was suggested to you and don't try to help you for something already fixed.

^^you should know cross posting is not good and start asking in the ULGX thread already (which you did but cross posted).
You should also know a tutorial on posting syscheck log is available from Cyan's signature instead of using old syscheck apps and not show them in spoiler tag.

Is this as easy as just using a piece of software to load games via backup or is it more complicated than that? Can I load GameCube games via backup? Can my Wii be too new to do any of this?

Hello everyone, complete newbie here!

I just followed this guide to SoftMod my "old" Wii, and I also installed the last version of the Homebrew Browser app.
What should I do to run backup DVDs? I'm guessing I need a loader app or something, what's the one with the most compatibility?

Also, isn't there an option to install the loader as a channel, instead of having to go through the Homebrew Channel every single time?

Thanks in advance!

Is there a backup loader for WiiWare titles? I've heard USB Loader GX works for that, but I can't get USB Loader GX to work here, so I use CFG USB Loader for Wii backups.
You'll want to look into something called EmuNAND, or Emulated NAND for short, which I think is a slightly misleading name, but oh well. I'm not sure if CFG Loader supports that, but I know USB Loader GX does. You could also look into neek2o.

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the output path of Accio Hacks or, better yet, change where Nintendont looks for GCTs?

Currently Accio Is on my SD and outputs there. Nintendont won't find the GCT there though, since it looks for the file on USB instead of SD.

Basically I want to NOT need to open up Wii Xplorer and transfer the file every time.

I see the "Cheat Path" option in Nintendont but it doesn't seem to do anything. I see no files in the apps folder that I can edit for this purpose. I'm stumped. Help please?

Any help would be extremely appreciated

Yes, but you have your configuration set up terribly. Don't ever use NTFS for SD on the Wii. The console can't read it. And WBFS as a partition format has been deprecated for years. Use FAT32 and Wii Backup Manager to make WBFS files for your Wii games on the HDD. Wii Backup Manager will automatically split the game image into chunks that are FAT32 compatible.

If I recall correctly, in the early days of Mario Kart Wii and Brawl modding you basically had to burn a DVD which contained the modified textures since there were no USB and SD loaders/file replacement codes written at the time. USB Loaders can load ISO files but even Project M has pseudo-HD stage/costume texture revamps.

I understand that it won't truly be 720p but even an N64 texture revamp could look pretty nice.

Even though the Wii doesn't run in HD has anyone managed to inject an HD texture pack into an ISO and run it through a USB loader? My PC is too weak to run Smash 64/Brawl/Melee HD projects.

Hi I'm new here, I have some experience with wii soft modding(albeit a bit dated 2009)
I just finished soft modding my vwii and I have a new hdd on the way and wanted to know if everything was okay and ready for playing my GC and Wii backups.
