Use a game cartridge to upgrade to 4.x I guess

I'm using an old 3DS, a 2DS, and an old 3DSXL. I've gotten them to dualboot the homebrew launcher and emunand with menuhax 2.0 using the emergency launcher. My problem is, is that Emunand worked at first, bu holding no buttons to boot to it, but after accessing the homebrew menu 2.5 by booting and holding R, it makes the emunand boot unusable. anyone know a solution?

Yes, to update from 2.4 to 2.6, you just need to swap the .dat. Bear in mind that Notifications and StreetPass functions don't work on 2.6 if you have emuNAND 10.2 or higher.
It might be because of an out of region game, but I'm not sure, saw it in some topic and the Nightly version indeed fixed it.

So if you use those functions, I recommend getting one of the Nightly Builds. November 8 works for me so.
Another thing that I discovered by accident, if you keep the .dat there and use the rxTools site you'd use for 2.5 and 2.6, it loads that version instead.
So just save that as a backup if rxTools 3.0 isn't working for you.

@AlexeySinitsyn , and everyone who needs a tutorial on how to update, this one works for me.

1- Delete rxTools folder from the 3DS SD Card
2- Download latest nightly of rxTools 3.0 from https://lavanoid.github.io/ (USE MEGA MIRROR)
3- Install Python 2.7 on your PC if you Haven't
4- Download FIRM Files with cdn_firm.py file inside tools folder, you should have now a FIRM Folder inside tools folder
5- copy rxTools folder inside release folder to your SD Card
6- Download cetk file from
http://nus.cdn.c.shop.nintendowifi.net/ccs/download/0004013800000002/cetk
7- rename the file to 0004013800000002_cetk.bin and copy to FIRM folder
8- Copy FIRM folder inside rxTools folder of your SD
9- Launch rxTools with:
https://dukesrg.github.io/?rxTools/sys/code.bin

You can't boot from HBL or autoboot don't work since you've booted it from HBL? That's unclear, sorry :/

I think you need to initialize the database. You have to copy blank database files to your internal SD. then try it again. I will find a guide and link it for you. I added blank .dbs as well


1.Power off your 3DS and put the SD-Card in your PC. On the SD card open the folder “Nintendo 3DS” and the open the folder in there, you will have come to a folder called “extdata”. Create a new folder beside that folder called “dbs”. Open the “dbs” folder and copy import.db and title.db into it if you don’t have it.

5.Now go to Settings->Data Management->Nintendo 3DS Software, your 3DS should say something about data being corrupt and needs formatting

It would boot into both, however, once I boot into HB, it would "ruin" my emunand boot. I ended up fixing that, but have another issue. I updated my GF's 3DS from 4.2 to 9.0 by downgrading the emunand from 9.8 to 9.0, then flashing that to system nand. Now, I cannot get RXtools to run at all, I've tried a few different versions. If it helps, i downgraded the system nand's MSET to 6.x. So in a nutshell, downgraded from 9.8 to 9.0, cant run rxtools

That's a strange way to proceed ^^ I can't say why it doesn't work, but I would recommand you to do it the "regular" way : Just install an old NAND backup of 4.2 and install the 9.2 update in pasta with devmenu..

I'm not sure what could be wrong. Can you launch emunand and sysnand mode properly before?
