You absolutely need the text for the folders. Without text, you'll have to keep tapping on the folders to find the one you want before opening it.

Edit - custom icons could work. I can imagine a nice menu of icons with a game pad for games, a cog for tools etc etc. The problem would be if the user wants to add a folder and doesn't want to or can't find a suitable icon. It would add a lot requirements on the user to configure the launcher with the custom icons when actually just displaying the folder name as text works better.
The actual home menu allows for folders to have a single letter on them to help differentiate them. You could have just the first letter displayed and have the full name up top.

As for icons, you could ship with a standard set and have icon files included for them. 3ds, Games, Emulators, Utility seems to be the standard file separation.

You pushed your commit to browser branch instead of master branch
I noticed that. The weird thing is that GitHub Desktop says "Committing to master" at the top of the commit page, so I don't know why it went to browser :/

Fantastic ideas! I'll add them to the list! :)

Now it's OK, you should learn Git BTW, GitHub Desktop is pretty shitty AFAIK :P

EDIT: OK, I didn't see the content of the commit in master branch xD

Ok, I've deleted the browser branch so I only have master. But it won't let me commit anything to master because it says there aren't any unsynced commits. How can I force it to update?

Ahh done it now. After doing that in bash I went back into Git Desktop and it was showing a load of unsynced commits again. I recomitted and synced again and now I'm seeing in master what I've got locally.

I have posted a link to the source on the first post. I have also put my todo list there for others to see.

@mashers I'm sure all the stability problems come from the preload titles option. It's really unstable even on new 3ds but with the option disabled is rock solid :yay:

@Red3agle
Acutally you can just go directly to the file here, press "Raw", and it'll download.
Even better. Thank you both!

I have no problems on mine. To be honest this is so perfect i don't know what else i can suggest!

It's weird that so many people are having this problem as it works fine for me on a new 3ds. However, I don't have that many titles which might explain it. I think I need to introduce the progressive loading feature which will load the smdh data one page at a time. That will remove the need for the background thread preloading while hopefully allowing the title launcher to appear immediately.

Might be the issue. I know all I buy is digital games just for convenience of not having to switch cartridge. And it takes about 5 seconds for my launcher to load all titles. I just wait for the "choppy water" to settle down to know that it's good to go. But I don't always use anything that launches titles so it's kinda 50/50 about it being useful.

@mashers I've noticed a little bug. Here's how to reproduce it.
Go to any folder with the region free loader disabled make sure you are over the first app from the top left corner and while selecting the first app touch the settings button.
Go to settings and enable the region free loader and go back to the apps.
Now you''l be on the second app and you can't move to the left row of apps.
It can be fixed by changing folders.
Also here I'll leave a little concept of how the theme seletor screen would look if it displayed the info.smdh
WAyCRV8.png
Also would this be possible? It would be great for some themes that could get better readability. I know they can be edited but it would be great having a universal fix alternative.
BTW, would be possible to add a translucent background to the app's description?
Something like this:

Now:

With this feature:

Just an example, so you can read the text more easily.

The theme was made by @VaiCorunthians
