Hacking O3DS on 7.2, no browser - how to get a CFW?

Hi everybody,

I just got a used O3DS XL via eBay and it runs on 7.2.0 but unfortunately without the browser.

What would be the best solution to get a CFW running?

I do have a DSTWO with the last firmware which is compatible with the 3DS firmware 7.2.0.
I also have access to a Gateway card although this is somewhat limited be. AFAIK the card is used on a 4.5.0 3DS and I'm probably not allowed to update the GW card.
I also own a retail copy of OoT3D and a R4 SaveDongle if this may help.

You would probably at least need cubic ninja to start FBI or a signature-patched home menu, then (not sure if possible) upgrade your system to 9.0 (via CIA or other method) and install Themehax

Your only option is to update to 9.2 with Cooking mama 5 for example then use Ninjhax2 (which requires Cubic Ninja).

As far as i know mset got fixed exactly on that firmware version 7.x, I dont think theres another solution, wait for other replies.

I just updated the original post with the information that I do have a retail OoT3D cartridge and a R4 SaveDongle.

Your only option is to update to 9.2 with Cooking mama 5 for example then use Ninjhax2 (which requires Cubic Ninja).

Gamecarts dont have the browser included

Use OoT Hax with Gateway to boot Gateway 3DS.

When the menu system for gateway pops up, start gateway mode in Sysnand

Once in gateway mode in Sysnand, install 9.0 update via CIA (using cia installer like FBI)

Then reboot, and relaunch gateway mode via OoT

Now, open Themehax installer and install themehax

With themehax, you can boot either the homebrew launcher or boot rxTools directly

There you go~

Yes ninjhax doesnt need it but he needs cfw to get into GW menu and all dat stuff
But if you have OOT you can boot the modded GW save forgot about that

1. The OOT entry point for gateway is only supported by the n3ds
2. Sysnand update in gw mode = brick
3. Sysnand update with a cia manager = brick.

Yes I am, the gw mode block the native_firm update, and cia mangers can't update it, so in both cases it will result in a brick (except for minor updates which don't change the native_firm, like 9.0 to 9.2)

He can then use the ninjhax2 version of pasta + sysupdater to fully update his console to 9.2.0-20.

Yeah, updating via gateway = brick. Honestly, no idea where you'd even find the proper 9.0 CIA, or how you would properly install it.

Yes, plus a 9.2 game, so it should be cheaper to just sell it and buy another one.
