you could also use one of the GBA emu's i.e. mGBA, CitrAGB to run yoshis island.
im not sure if the games run but you could try.

Unfortunately I'm on fw 9.9, otherwise that's exactly what I'd do. I should have mentioned that. mgba gave round 35-45 fps.there is a gba port that runs well as an injected cia and probably also on mgba
CatSFC runs well on N3DS
CatSFC does work with enhancement chips, I thought (maybe not). And it was recently ported to 3DS, so it isn't that outdated, afaik.Except, that's outdated and has low compatibility and won't run games with enhancement chips...
