wow, catsfc loads Seiken Densetsu 3 on my o3ds using tubehax. 16fps tho ;(. looks promising at least! definitely keeping my eye on how retroarch advances. thanks so much to all the devs working hard on this for us! :)

Don't expect too much unless they made some serious tweaks to the cores.

If you want better speed you're gonna need a kernel exploited o3DS or an n3DS on Ninj/Tube/Iron/Smash/OoT-hax for now.

Holy hell! The performance on CATSFC with Super Mario RPG with a New 3DS is outstanding. It's certainly much more playable than what the DSTWO could ever offer. Even without proper aspect ratio/scaling controls and the screen tearing this is some excellent work. Major props to aliaspider and the rest of the dev team. I've followed this project for years now and it's really come a long way.
Also I tried out NXEngine as a novelty and oh my goodness the results are hysterical. Every shot from the polar star gets stuck in whatever surface it hits and you can't even leave the 1st cave. I know this whole thing is still very alpha level right now but the bugs actually put a smile on my face. :P

NXEngine runs pretty damn well on my o3DS! Odd sound, but otherwise it seem full speed - or very close to that!

Although, how do I change the screen to display in 1:1 and not stretch out? Is it locked, and if so, can you un-lock it?

Edit: or not, it has odd screen effects and objects act odd (floating). Same problem as: https://gbatemp.net/threads/retroarch-nxengine-cave-story-problem.372694/

So is it expected the .CIA versions to be slow on New 3DS? CATSFC running very slow on my 3DS with .CIA on Gateway emunand.

If I need the Homebrew Launcher, what's the best way for Gateway users like me? Cubic Ninja ROM?

Edit: I used Cubic Ninja ROM and loaded the emulators in .3dsx and everything is fine now. They are impressive!!!! 99% perfect!

That's amazing to hear! However, I've had issues actually booting up Mario RPG. I was able to get past the introduction cut-scene with Peach, pick my name, go through the introduction cut-scene again, and then it just... stops.

Just ran the GPSP and Virtual Boy .cia. OMG, they work, but run VERY slowly on the N3DS via EmuNAND FW 9.2. VB gets 7-9FPS running Wario Land.
SNES9x Next gets around 11-16FPS
Genesis Plus GX gets around 16-20FPS
CATSFC gets around 16-30FPS(16FPS In-Game when Playing)
PicoDrive Locks up. Tried a .md File, and I get a Red Upper Screen displaying at 40FPS. Try running a .gen File, and it all locks up needing a Forced Shutdown. One Game I got to run MKII Unlimited Hack gets anywhere from Mainly 26FPS to 50FPS with steady 28FPS during Fights, so basically, it is somewhat Playableish
Nestopia gets about 16FPS..........but only the Left 1/2 of the Screen is visible
A few of the CIAs have the same Unique IDs so if you go to Install all of the, a few are going to get overridden.

Well, The O3DS crew feel you lol

I tried the cia version and it s very...
Isit because of that they used old version to pack those cia ?

Yep im on n3ds and cia version are slow... 17 frames per second on sonic genesis...

Yeah unfortunately that's a little bit of a stopgap right now. :p
Either way once this port of libretro gets cleaned up a bit I will never have to think about Super Mario RPG at 30 FPS on the DSTWO again.

Yeah, CIA performance seems to be pretty bad all across the board. They all run fine (and at 60fps for the most part) when launched with something like TubeHax, but struggle tremendously when run as .cias.

I hope this isn't a permanent technical limitation. Having to reboot into a sigpatched mode just to run a game that will then run these emulators, not to mention the forced reboot after launching the Homebrew Launcher and no home menu, isn't exactly ideal.

Yeah, .3dsx Versions will have to do until the .cia Versions are taken care of. Best thing though, I tried the Home Button and even Closed the N3DS on one of them and it kept right on going on the .cia Versions. So we have that to look forward to when they work better.
