"Layeredfs is enabled on default" no mods ever load no matter what i do, im trying to get mods to load on super mario 3d world but nothing happens, so is it even possible to load mods on the switch? Because apparently not
I have my folder branch as atmosphere/contents/010028600EBDA000/ I've tried the szs folders in the oject data folder and ive tried them on their own, ive tried simple mod manager (with the mods folder at the root of sd card), i looked at loader.ini to maker sure nothing was screwed up, ive tried not using certain mods, so what the actual fuck is preventing me from using mods?
Check the mods are correctly installed on atmosphere/contents/<game_id>/romfs/ and then follow the structure needed for each game.
Verify that the override_config.ini file is located on atmosphere/config. If the override is set to a key (usually L), you MUST press L BEFORE launching the game and the keep it press till the black screen appears. Only then you can release the button.
If the override is set to a not-key (meaning the button has a !, f.e. !L) that means that the mods will be applied by default. In this case, if you keep the button pressed while loading the game, the mods WILL NOT load.
Also various people mention that you need to have the right game version for the mod to work.
But I presume that if title ids match, then you're good to go.

you were right about checking the folder structure, layeredfs works fine with acnh so i didn't think that the game files would have to be so specific for them to load: I had atmosphere/contents/010028600EBDA000/ the mod files instead of atmosphere/contents/010028600EBDA000/romfs/ the main root folders and so on and now my mod is working!
i figured out the update changed the game title id itself in the switch from 010028600EBDA000 to 010028600EBDA800 but it turns out my problem was actually me assuming i only had to put the mod files in that folder for them to work, i had to specify the file path like the 010028600EBDA000/romfs/ObjectData/ etc, really good suggestion though! I should look out for that with other games

I'm still struggling with this for jackbox games 8. Ive for the config file set as
[Default_config]
Override_keys=!L
Which does mean no need to press anything? Right
I have ver 1.02 of jbpp8 & the title ID folder is 010050F015280000
Inside that folder is romfs folder & there is a config.jet
Thats it.. What am I missing? I'm on firmware ver 19.01, Shouldn't it work? Ive also tried simple mod manager & no luck there also, says active, never works.
if you have romfs_metadata.bin generated in your titleid folder, it means that layeredfs worked properly and content in your romfs folder is at fault here

Interesting, I don't see that file after running the game, is that when its written? Or when mod is activated? So it must be a setting is wrong. This is an offline mod for jbpp8. So is my title ID wrong perhaps or other nested folder issue?
If it's not generated, then either you have issues with archive bits, or Atmosphere can't read properly your config. The best way to get default settings is just remove config file completely. Remember that after each config modification you must restart Switch.

OK this is interesting, I guess simple mod manager is not working. I put the mods directly into atmos/content again after fixing the arch bit & they now appear to work partially. So jbpp8 will get past the initial page & almost Into the game but gets stuck on.. Connecting to jackbox games services & times out..
The romfs_metadata.bin is present now, I checked. So its gotta be a mismatch in the game version, I also deleted the update and went back to the original release version and it still wont get past that screen, even with a reboot in there for good measure. So its gotta be a bad patch on jbpp8, I'll try the other versions..
UPDATE: Ok the patches do work and there are a few issues that I notice with getting these 2 work.
#1 that arch bit is critical for getting these patches to work, youl know if they are not working if you don't see that romfs_metadata.bin file show up inside the titleID folder
So at least you know they are working when you see that.
#2, these damn Jackbox games require internet which is something I was so confused by. I keep my switch offline and it needs to connect to Jackbox.tv to work and these games allow people on phones/tablets to join with the player on the switch.. anyway I didnt know this and its not really explained online unless you are already aware of how these games work. It does not connect to Nintendo and as long as you block Nintendo servers that's good also.
