Hello,
Is there a way to use a CIA game update (SSB4 1.8 update for instance) in classic mode? I have a retail EUR SSB4 copy, but I also have a GW on a n3DS so I can't use the eShop to legitimately download the update.
I downloaded the update as a CIA and installed it with DevMen, but as expected I cannot use it on classic mode... Are my only options a CFW like Pasta (either to access eShop or to bypass the signature checks) or to dump my game to play it on my GW, or is there actually a way to use the update CIA on GW's classic mode?
Thanks in advance!
In order to be able to use the update in Classic Mode, it needs to have a valid signature, which can only be done by Nintendo. So, you will need to use some method of spoofing your System Version to access the eShop and get the update. Dumping your game to put it onto the GW would also work.
Hi, I have not tested using the classic mode on gateway yet, but I do have pasta cfw configured as well as my gateway, and there is a nice eshop spoofer wich allows me to access the eshop via pasta cfw on the sysnand and download the updates
==edit==
I eventually pulled the rom from the original cartridge and use it with emunand, that way its easier to install updates and DLC, working like a charm, (and I can also sell my real game ) just modify the header with another game I have on the rom to prevent future issues.
Did you ever get your issues resolved? Retail games should work with Gateway emuNand if you boot into Classic Mode, but it sounded like you were still having issues with this? If you're still having any issues, I'd be happy to try to help with them.
Hey guys, I'm about to get myself a Gateway card, I already have OOT purchased. What will I need to get the save file onto the cart? I'm looking at save managers like Datel and Action replay, I'm not sure which one is viable. And will I be able to backup my previous save, use the OOT exploit, then restore to my own save file?
I believe Powersaves should work fine, as well as anyone able to run a Gateway. There should be no issue with backing up your current save, installing the exploit save, doing what you need to do, and then restoring your own save. You'll want to install the MSET exploit and BlueCardFix, because otherwise you'll need OoT and the exploit save every time you want to get to emuNand or the Launcher menu.
I've been using Sky3DS on my old 3DS XL (fw 9.5) for a couple of months now due to not being able to run Gateway and just recently bought a N3DS XL that came with fw 9.0 and I have couple of questions about transfering to Gateway
Q: Is there a way to transfer my save files I have on my Sky3DS onto Gateway?
Q: Is it possible to update games via eShop on emunand or should I install the updates in .cia format found on sites like [REDACTED]?
Q: Is it possible to downgrade to fw 4.5 on N3DS, and what's the benefit in doing that rather than staying on fw 9.0?
- I'm not familiar with transferring between Sky3DS and Gateway, as I've never used a Sky3DS, but I would assume it would be possible somehow.
- Installing updates via eShop (by spoofing your System Version to do so) gives you the added benefit of being able to use the updates in Classic Mode, but that's not a large benefit. Other than that, there's not much difference between just installing the CIA version.
- You cannot downgrade a N3DS to 4.x. The main benefit you would have gotten by doing so is using the MSET/NVRAM exploit, which you can get anyway by installing the mset.cia and BlueCardFix.cia files provided by Gateway. This allows you to reach the Launcher through the System Settings > Other Settings > Profile > Nintendo DS Profile option instead of relying on specific games. You will lose access to certain features in sysNand (Super Stable 3D, Wifi File Transfer, and I think Amiibo stuff, maybe others), but if you don't plan on using sysNand for much, it's not a big loss, since you'll still have those features in emuNand.
