Well finally the Vita says Hello :D

You guys know what will be possible with this hack?
Homebrew, Emulators, or dumping/playing Vita Isos?
Homebrew, which includes emulators. No word on how much access to Vita features this will give, so it's hard to say how fully featured and creative homebrew can be currently. Otherwise this is still basically it's own kind of sandbox. It is not access to the level that would be needed to boot Vita game dumps (if there even are any legitimate ones yet). I believe it was basically confirmed that this wouldn't ever give that access either, not just because the creation of Rejuvenate was to facilitate homebrew creation, not piracy, but just because it doesn't seem to be possible.

Ok i understand but hey that sounds great.
Vita Games are not that expensive but a nice, powerfull, portable emulation/homebrew device is priceless for me.
I hope that a big Vita homebrew scene will start with this first or second step (first step was the Vita game exploit i guess).

NO PSP and PS1 games?

Thats just.. not ok.
There's already literally dozens of exploits for PSP/PS1, and very likely more to come. I'd say the interests of people interested in pirating PSP games on their Vitas have been more than well served.

Really tbh my opinion is on this, its a waste of time and very boring to be blunt because he has stated you will never run vita games through this exploit so we can do all this and more with epsp already so whats the point!. To be able to run an N64 game at full fps is nothing special that cannot already be done with say a 3DS, it can virtually be done now with epsp anyway and lets face facts now we are still talking about running N64 games at full fps in 2015!!!

Edit: this is just my opinion by the way and what I think about it so please don't jump on my back, I'm not saying what he has done is not a fantastic achievement for the vita scene but just not exciting enough for me to even be bothered with it and what a complete mess to even get it working in the first place!

N64 isn't nearly full speed on the PSP side of things. N64 emulation is little more than proof of concept on the PSP. Admittedly a decently well optimized proof of concept, but ultimately it never did much more than run Ocarina of Time okay in a relatively playable fashion as long as you shut the sound off. SNES emulation is far from perfect on the PSP, and even GBA emulation is lacking in certain areas. There's a lot of room for improvement on the Vita. Plus, all you're thinking is emulators. You do realize this is opening up homebrew completely, right? Who knows what homebrew applications we'll get. Emulators are really bottom of the barrel stuff once you start getting into a system. Emulators are on everything, and they simply aren't special.

As well, do you honestly think the 3DS is capable of anything that resembles full speed N64 emulation? If it were, don't you think someone would have, I dunno, hopped on it by now if they thought it was possible? Considering how picky N64 emulation can be, as well as the fact that it's not even perfect on Android yet, I'd be a little surprised if someone had enough motivation to try to fine tune an N64 emulator on the Vita, much less the weaker 3DS.

Basically, your opinion is uninformed shit. Don't post stupid stuff and then tell people to basically not call you out on it.

Yeah but we are talking seriously about getting excited running N64 games at full fps on a vita in 2015, who wants to be excited about that now??? I don't even get that excited about an MM remake on the 3DS!

Edit: also its not stupid as you put it, its facts I'm only stating what many are probably thinking.

Good for you? If you have nothing even remotely constructive to contribute, why are you even here? If you had at least posted a well informed opinion, it could have been somewhat productive, but you just posted crap and replied with more crap. This isn't a thread about the 3DS. If all you care about is the 3DS, omg, guess what, we have a whole section of the site dedicated to talking about it.

I'm sorry you may feel I'm being a little harsh about the project but there has to be some negativity else all the arse licking in the world wont push anything new! that's what I am trying to get across.

Are you capable of saying something intelligent? You are bashing something based on, what? The fact it can't do piracy? People have known that for awhile and nobody is bothered by it. This is a first step, and it's a good one compared to the PSP sandbox the Vita scene was stuck in before. Or perhaps you choose to bash it on the steps required to initiate homebrew: yeah, it isn't pretty, but it's the very first homebrew solution for the Vita. It is inconvenient, but a necessary evil. It isn't as if Yifan Lu and others aren't working to bypass all the limitations in place to make the experience more user friendly. Or are you bashing it because you believe emulators are the only form of homebrew out there? That just speaks to your ignorance more than anything else.

Negativity needs to be constructive, otherwise it is just stupidity. Being negative for the sake of being negative is ridiculously idiotic.

I think this is a huge step in the right direction, the vita scene was becoming rather stagnant. The epsp things has been done to death. The extra horse power and the screen will make emulation through this exploit very good.

I'd love some N64 with full speed.

Here's some negative points:
  • This hack requires a USB and Windows PC, it ruins the portability of the console
  • This hack requires PSM, something that not everyone has. So only a small percentage of users can make or run homebrew.
  • This hack does not give unrestricted filesystem access, so all files must be placed in a single directory
  • There is no working SDK and it will take a while before the SDK is mature enough to do cool things
  • Even with a working SDK, homebrew developers who are used to fixed pipeline graphics will have to learn programable pipeline graphics for their projects. Porting PSP homebrew won't be easy.
  • and so on...
There's a ton of negative points to be made but "you will never run vita games through this exploit so ... whats the point" is basically "waaahhhh, I want to run games for free and nobody is helping me." And you know what, like I said before, I couldn't care less if people pirate or use my tools for piracy because I'm not here to help companies make a profit. But if I can piss off spoiled brats who think they deserve free games, then I'm happy.

Thanks for your comment I will take note but I see it as this, piracy is a good thing, it helps many poor people out in this world that has not got the money to spend on games and when a single game in the uk can cost up to £50.00 a pop then getting back ups to run should be a hackers priority, not spending hours on something that we can already do! No I'm not a spoilt brat by the way, if that is what you where getting at I pay my way in this world thanks, I can purchase a game when I want which many have not got that privilege in life like you and me sir! but releasing unnecessary hacks that we can all do now that would not lead to anything useful to me, yes is pointless tbh! Whether you find my comment offending then that is entirely up to you, it was not meant to be offending at all I think what you have done for the scene is an achievement, its fantastic I don't doubt that at all I respect you for that but what I don't doubt also is a little bit of negativity to try and get something done that many want and not waste time on another similar app for the vita scene.

Edit: also this is very sad selfish comment to make, grow up:- I couldn't care less if people pirate or use my tools for piracy because I'm not here to help companies make a profit. But if I can piss off spoiled brats who think they deserve free games, then I'm happy.
