The reason why NTR is closed source is because it's anti-piracy.
Open source would enable piracy by disabling sig checks in the code.
Get with the times, piracy is running rampant right now. Anything beyond this point is a futile attempt at damage control.

Hell, the Vita even died all on its own, no piracy needed.
This scene was built on piracy, even if no one wants to admit it. Devs stealing from devs. We're like three generations of theft in.

you don't have to go through all the lengths, just install Devmenu in Sysnand with PBT-CFW in 4.5 downgrade version, then make an emunand, restore 9.X sysnand if you feel like, boot Rxmode with the dat from this thread and voila , emunand with devmenu (a more in depth tutorial will most likely pop somewhere soon ^^)

There's still no avoiding transferring Dev Menu over the network if you don't have CN/GW, is there? :(

Pretty much, yeah. Someone could cook something up if rxTools could boot into sysNAND or load a 9.0/9.1/9.2 firmware.bin instead of the 9.4+ versions it currently supports, however.

If you have no 'net connection at all for your 3DS, then you're stranded without CN/GW to begin with.

@capito27 Oh perfect, no cubic needed ?
But are you sure if I install DevMenu on my sysnand, and then I reload my nand to 9.2, the DevMenu won't be deleted?
And if I have an sd card with Palantine CFW and games in, I can remove all the games and change the boot.bin to have PBT without doing anything else, right ?

This is cool and all, but I hope it doesn't discourage the Pasta devs from continuing, especially if roxas decides to stay closed source, or even discontinue development altogether. An open source option is important imo.

Nope, no way to avoid doing that at the moment , but roxas, some time ago discussed the possibility of a way to install a CIA manager through Rxtools, when his sig patch for home brew was still relevant.

Here's hoping that happens then. I'm one of those that never got past the "Failed to connect" error while trying to transfer Dev Menu so I couldn't try out Pasta and now I can't try this out either.

Don't worry, we're not going anywhere, we still have the monopoly over signature checks on N3DS; )

That's off topic but if you blocked settings on your router to prevent nintendo updating your 3DS that could be blocking you downloading cdn firm

Do you have an update block for your Wii U/3DS via DNS in your router/firewall? If so, chances are it's blocking the domain/address that cdn_firm.exe accesses (nus.cdn.c.shop.nintendowifi.net).

Oh damn, I completely forgot I did that way back when... Thanks guys, works now!

Hello, on question please,

how i can move the cia in my sysnand to my emunand ( i have installed many cia in my sysnand and in my emunand ( legit cia ) )

I feel you. Even after patching out the L holding check, PBT stubbornly refused to listen and stayed unreachable, despite spider stuff working just fine.

Remember to re-apply the block as soon as you're done downloading or your Wii U will undermine you really fast.

I have no idea if that'd work properly, why not just use the rxTools mset 'installer'?
many people don't have a nds flashcard (but still, there is a spider version of rxTools mset somewhere, boy that will take a while to find )

Except MSET support isn't there yet for Pasta, and we can load rxTools using MSET even though emuNAND isn't supported. I know it's in the works for Pasta, but it might still be a while, and I don't know how much longer I can wait.

Watching the community play GBA games as VC titles while I sit and wait is basically torture >.<

When the next 3ds firmware update comes out and blocks emunand for Gateway, is it likely that this method will be blocked too? This would mean that we would have to wait for the rxtools.dat to be updated.

I think I'll hold onto my gateway for now just in case.
