I know you guys said that you may not release anything, for various reasons (probably because of those whom are ungrateful here) and that everything is for personal research but, whats this mean:
Our goal is to open the 3DS and New 3DS platforms to developers, as wellas give users quite a few useful tools.
??

If you don't plan any form of release, why bother saying that? I know Wulfy has contributed to 3DBrew and that's great! Thank you! However, those contributions aren't exactly related to KARL...

Lets face it, the people who are pirating with PASTA would likely never have used KARL as it was "anti piracy"... They have what they want now - piracy... How many people would actually use KARL? Probably developers, right? You say that KARL was to " open up" the system to them...

I know parts of KARL was opened to the public but wasn't the original goals of KARL to be closed source and still support devs? Although the open source parts may be useful to some, it still doesn't fulfill the original goals of KARL... Support devs with the tools that KARL was meant to offer...

In some ways, it's sort of selfish despite what you've already given ... You say KARL was to support devs yet it hasn't... A release hasn't yet been made and now you're saying that there may or may not be a release at all... Why give those devs false hopes?

I understand that you guys are doing this for research/fun...

@Dazzozo @WulfyStylez ?? Someone? ;_;

Sorry that I still have an interest in your work. Sorry that I'm stupid. I still wanted to know how this is going, despite recent events.

Edit: I'm not saying in anyway that you should release KARL. I'm saying that if you are aren't living up to what the initial post says, you may as well remove it.

Wait, when did they say they won't release it? There's no release because they are debugging and stuff, right? And the lack of updates is because a lot of random people where pissed because for them KARL was ''showy'' with no release...

If I can recall, the devs were saying in like, pages ago that they may or may not release and that they don't plan to release anything as they are doing this for their own interest.

Debugging is different then creating new features and showing them off which is exactly what they do here. Not to open a can of worms like I did previously, but debugging happens when you have a final product with no immediate additions to be made. New additions typically don't get added during the debugging phase in a dev lifecycle which is why I called it out in the first place. What KARL has done is all good and dandy, but I really do hate showboats.

Over the course of this thread, the KARL Dev's position on release evolved from, "yea, we're readying for a release as soon as we can", to "nah, we're keeping this for ourselves, this was only ever for research and personal amusement". Basically.
I actually re-read this entire thread a couple of days ago from the start - really depressing stuff. I'd lock it if I were a mod until a member has a release or other good reason to reopen. It's threads like this that led Wololo to ban WIP threads on his forum. I wish this policy could be enacted here.

Come on people ! While it's a bit disappointing, it's still a good thing that this exists. I have no doubts that a lot of what we have today (Pasta, RxTools) directly or indirectly came from Karl.

Very directly. If I recall, they're the ones that gave us Bootstrap

Debugging can be done at any stage.
Especially if the developer is using good OO practises.

It's their own private toolset. They've made that clear. No need to cloud up the reasons.
I'd report it, but I'm not sure what rule it'd break. Just that it has no point being open to discussion anymore as it's their own private toolset. It's like waving your ovaries around in an abortion clinic just for the sake of it.

Our point was that we have no plans to be bound to any sort of release schedule, because we do this on our own time more for research and knowledge than for popularity or an actual release. We will release when we are ready to release, whenever that may be. Bear in mind that other projects like NTR or Rx have had their stuff polished for months before release, porting doesn't take much effort. We started from nothing. Even a project like ninjhax took quite a while to get prepared for a release. Unfortunately we were stuck with the expectation of full transparency, which more often than not isn't easy to do for this kind of thing. I see criticisms of that, and yet the same exact thing is repeating itself with Pasta right now, you ask for status updates, we give them, and you retaliate by saying we're just posting screenshots to show off. What do you guys even want? Sure we could whip up some crappy release which is completely half baked, but even internally we haven't managed to get a clean implementation of region free or some decent ARM11 utilities going. Until we get that, I guarantee there will be no release. All of our internal utilities, in one way or another, aid the eventual public features which will be implemented.

I for one can be patient, but maybe it was better off to not announce it because some people just can't wait. Anyways, release or not, I appreciate the effort that has been made by this team, and still pop in from time to time. Even if it's not going to directly benefit me, the knowledge that was put into the open from you guys is a very nice treat, I love to learn.

That sounds entirely rational, reasonable, and at least gives us some hope. Thanks for the update. : )

This is exactly why I was getting mad a few pages back. I fully understood why you guys were posting the videos and screenshots. Hell, I even preferred them because I like hearing about all the cool stuff you guys are doing behind the scenes. Others, however, were just being morons and complaining about the "showboating" even though by that point there were multiple ways to have emuNAND working on both New and Old 3DSes and thus, no reason to even be complaining in this thread. Even when pointing out to them that they asked for the updates, they still continued with the entitled crying.

Honestly, I would totally understand if you guys were to go silent here. Dealing with the people on this forum is a nightmare more often than not. (For release/WIP threads anyways.)

I'm just happy that there's still some sort of chance. Pasta literally is just patching sig checks. Even if I brought attention to Pasta, I am still faithful to KARL and RXTools and am not ever gonna use Pasta. There wasn't anything fun or useful other than pirating Cias. I can't wait for what KARL has up their sleeve since they've unveiled some... Mysterious stuff about a ton of things. :P Anyway, I am looking forward to this possible release. Also, may you tell us what exactly is holding you guys back from advancing? You don't have to tell the TOP SECRET stuff but if there is any public info to go around, then please enlighten us!
