"Amiibo DLC" would consist of the amiibo characters as in the form of digital DLC content which would be available on the eShop and it'd work with every game the Wii U has to offer. As such would you consider buying it?

I know I would because it'd be a lot more convenient, easy and no need for figures. Plus, the prices shouldn't really be more than £3-4 ($4-5). I guess they could go with £4.99 ($7) as its standard price which wouldn't be unreasonable given that it'd unlock everything, in the regard that what the amiibos offer.

While it's not DLC, they're going to have Amiibo cards available later this year, which will not only be far more available, but cheaper too. I'd imagine that they'd be out before this possible form of DLC could be implemented (since everything right now is external-based).

How do you know the cards will be far more available? They will be only if Nintendo chooses for them to be. They have chosen to severely limit the supply of the figurines. What makes you think they will change strategies?

Fact that cards are easier to produce in very large scales

Assuming the things you mentioned are true, I would buy them.
Most likely though they will cost as much as the retail Amiibos. Then no, fuck that.
That's how they've priced retail games so I don't expect them to change that now.

Your kidding me right? The Chinese couldn't turn out billions and billions of Amiibos on a moments notice if that's what Nintendo wanted?

The amount of work and resources that go into each Amiibo figurine is far more than what is put into a card that has two layers surrounding an NFC chip and slapping decals on them. In fact, I'm doubting the figurines and cards would be made by the same facilities.

I am sure that is all true, but has nothing to do with the availability or price Nintendo will charge. Foxconn can churn out iPhones by the millions but Amiibos are a problem?

The issue is of course that would cost more money for Nintendo compared to cards.

But ultimately Nintendo could just ramp up production but they just wont

I highly suspect smash cost more to develop than DLC Party 10, but they only charge $10 less.
