Another exploit would have to be found and publicly released by someone or found and released by them for that to happen. It took about a year and a half for another exploit to be released and Gateway to have the ability to be ran on higher firmwares.

Less than a year and a half is not almost 3 years

Edited for your approval. Sorry for not being 100% correct on something. Your useless post didn't effect my point at all though :)
Well, you inadvertently said the scene is slow. (it is).. As far as I knew though they used an exploit found way before their release.

If I have a 3DS on firmware 9.4, and I do factory settings, does the firmware go back down?
your joking right?

Lol.

if that was the case then dont you think everyone would do this?

The firmware is storage on the main system memory.
when you update your firmware the update unlocks this memory and writes the new update deleting the old one, then it locks it back down.

So I can't do anything with 9.4?

why would you bother buying something for that price that does nothing?

of course you can. either buy the games. or have fun with the several functions a 3ds can do. like using the mp3 player and taking 3d pictures and movies.
go to miiverse, have fun..
but if you want games, you have to purcahse them.

My friend has a 3DS with a low firmware, but he doesn't want to sell it to me. Is there a way to backup his to mine?
