My firmware (Old original 3DS. Got it on launch day.) is at 9.5. What can I do with that? I read Gateway works with 9.2 below and I'm really not that interested in Sky what with the limited functionality.

Am I mistaken about Gateways compatibility and if not is there anyway I can downgrade?

On a side note that I'm bringing up because I'm worried about looking like a total idiot, I'm fairly familiar with DS and Wii modding. Just never paid much attention to the 3DS scene, mainly cause I wasn't aware it existed until a short while ago. Certainly didn't expect it to be so far along. I'm impressed.

I was afraid of that. Well, I'll probably spring for that. Can always get something else if something new gets found.

The easier, and more worthwhile solution, would be to just pawn your current 3DS and buy a New 3DS running 9.2.0-20U or lower. Just look up the compatible serial number ranges for your region and go pick one up. It's worth it, guaranteed. You can wait on KARL, or get a Gateway 3DS from then on.

I...didn't think of that. If I transfer my profile and stuff from my old one will that have any undesirable effects?

You have to be on the latest firmware to do a system transfer. As the N3DS is not able to be updated to 9.6.0-24U yet through EmuNAND, you will not be able to perform a system transfer. Your only option is to start anew, and simply write down all your friend's friend codes. Don't worry about puzzles and the like though, you can make yourself a nintendo employee for the majority of the streetpass games, which awards you bonuses, and you'll have access to unlimited play coins. Pair that with homepass and you'll have a complete puzzle set in no time at all.

I don't mean to derail the conversation but I had a question about what you said. By "Nintendo employee" you mean giving your Mii gold pants correct? Do you need to reset your streetpass Mii Plaza data to receive the bonuses? Because I have a gold pants Mii and receive no bonuses.

I've also heard that past a certain system software version gold pants Miis not made by Nintendo don't get the bonuses when you use them in the plaza games.

how do you make yourself a nintendo employee?

You must praise the Regginator every day of your pitiful life, until he comes to pick you up and takes you to Nintendo Land.

In all seriousness though, I'm too lazy to spoon-feed you, go read the forums. The search function was built for a reason.

That's a tad rude isn't it?

Meh, not really. Most people flip out, and I've helped enough for the day in other topics. Plus, if they're a newbie, the best thing they can do is learn how to search the forums. If I was going to be truly rude, I wouldn't have started my reply with a joke.

Thanks for the link, seems easy. I'm use to people getting all assy about saying how you should just search it, you get it on every forum. if someone asks for help I always give them the information if I can, first post on this forum was confirming my serial code and where I got it from so people could buy a new 3ds xl on firmware 9.0. What I don't get is, if he's tired of helping people today what's the point in posting?

You quoted my post, so I replied, simple. Nothing more to it.

That's because there's a search function on every proper forum. If you've really been told so many times, why not take their advice?

Seriously though, nothing personal, just didn't feel like helping. We all end up searching for most of the stuff we need, one way or another.

Correct me if I am wrong. To boot Gateway on N3DS, you need to have a Cubic Ninja or Zelda OoT retail cartridge

Yes, that's correct, but Cubic Ninja is recommended.

Again, if you didn't feel like helping what's the point if it's not even going to be helpful?

I did help, ha ha. Else, typing random crap is much easier than actually searching stuff up. I mean, if you really want to get into it, commenting on my comments is pointless too, but it makes you feel better, right? That's the point. The point is it's pointless, for the sake of pointlessness. I mean really, have you not read the vast majority of the posts on this forum? That's literally the theme across 90% of the posts on here. We post to post, and for no other reason most of the time.

...Actually, that encompasses at least 90% of human interactions in general...

We're a hilariously weird species.
