I know the QQ3DS is the exact same card -- a clone -- Of the Sky3DS, but, it can be found for slightly (a couple $ here and there) cheaper than a Sky3DS, comes with another cart to play normal DS titles, and even comes with a little card reader.

You may not need those little additions (me personally, I really like the fact that they include a card for DS roms too) but, why would someone go for a Sky3DS instead? They even use the same template/diskwriting programs iirc.

Is there some difference between the two that I'm missing?

QQ isn't even on ShopTemp and a lot of people use that to shop around.
The original is likely more reliable as well.

i recently ordered a sky3ds instead of a qq3ds for two reasons:
1. easier to find.
2. found it at a pretty good price.

This makes it sound like there's actually a difference between the two.

Is that not a reliable source?

Courtesy of RomAnOCrY,

This is a QQ3DS:

And this is a Sky3DS:

As far as I can tell, they're literally the exact same thing...
So is this really a case of the "official" one being more reliable or..?

From my experience, clone carts are not always completely identical and lots of times have no quality control whatsoever. The sheer number of crappy R4 clones was astounding.

I ordered my Sky at eachmall for about $80, shipped. Why would I get a clone when I can get the original for around the same price/cheaper?

comes with another cart to play normal DS titles, and even comes with a little card reader.

An R4 clone, which I would be surprised if it weren't blocked in later updates.
Gateway also comes with an (also crappy) DS cart and more features for $20 less.

If you want a good DS-mode cart, get a DSTwo.

I mean, I'm not looking for a feature-filled DS cart(is that even a thing?) Just something to play DS games.

And I'm fairly certain that if Nintendo really wanted to, they could block all flashcarts with the push of an update.

Pick one.

I mean the QQ DS cart is probably blocked already. I doubt it works on anything past 9.0.
In order to block a cart, they have to find the security hole it uses. In all the time I've had a DSTwo it never stays blocked for long and that's IF it gets blocked. Historically it hasn't even when other DS carts have been (RIP AceKard2i).

A feature-filled DS cart is very much a thing. It's not just features; it's also things like game compatibility, speed, and battery drain.
