When converting a 3DS file to a CIA file you have the option to mod the decrypted files & rsf file & then repack it.
My question is instead of making a rom.3ds file into a repacked rom.cia file, what is the method to unpack a 3DS file, mod the rsf file or decrypted files & then repack it is as 3DS file, not a CIA file.
I suppose I could repack it as a CIA file then convert the CIA file back to a 3DS file (if thats possible) to accomplish the same thing.
I understand makerom is probably used to do this, but Im just not sure of the proper commands...

Hmm well I think to answer your question, the easiest way is to just use the 3ds to cia download except open "decrypt and make.bat" & replace all occurrences of "cia" with "cci". Then just do everything like normal & it will generate a cci (3ds file) instead of cia file.

I have a 4.5 3DS with GW and a 9.2 N3DS with sky3ds:
-Anyway to use my GW save games with the sky3ds?
-Anyway to know if a game uses the 6.0 save encryption or not? I want to know with which games I can use the same save file.

Thanks

Turn of spotpass entirely and never turn on wi-fi (or delete the options there).

Further to this question, I need info on how to remove an update that nags users with 3DS units on 7.2 to 9.2.

I've been looking into this because I advise flashcart newbies on an Aussie forum.
I've had a hard time convincing some of the guys there with the new 3DS and a Gateway to completely disable wifi and spotpass.
I fully expect update nags to become a problem when Nintendo release the next update from 9.2.

While researching, I've seen conflicting info about dealing with update nag loops.

One side says you can just delete the downloaded update from a certain folder on the SD to stop the nag.
The other side says the update now downloads to sysNAND and it takes a full 3DS system memory reformat to remove the nag.
To make matters worse, I've also seen people saying the reformat won't run until after the update is installed on 7.X and later systems.

I really need to know if it's true that the update process has evolved with later firmware update versions, and if it's still possible to remove the nags, how?

I don't have the ability to downgrade a 3DS yet so I can't test to find out 100% what info's accurate and what isn't.

Would be awesome to get some current info. Everything I've found so far is at least 6 months old.

Thanks for any help...

Does R4I Gold card work on N3DS XL for playing DS games? It works on latest FW 9.X. of 3DS regular. I was wondering if there was a difference between.

If I am moving to a bigger SD card (not mini-SD), can I simply copy the launcher (along with saved games) to another SD card?

Check the game with 3DS explorer and there you'll see what SDK is used to make the game. If the SDK is 6.0 or higher, then it uses the newer save encryption.
But I am not 100% certain about this.

I think so, but I'm not completely sure.
Yes. And if you have an EmuNAND, be sure to use the EmuNANDtool to copy that over since it's a hidden partition on the SD card and can't be copied over by normal means.

Hello, I have a R4I Gold Flash Cart to play NDS Games on my 3DS XL and I ordered a N3DS XL which is going to be delivered next week. I know R4I Gold Cart places the saves files on the Micro SD cart and I can browse those files through a card reader. My question is will i be able to use my save on my N3DS XL? Thanks.

I see zero reason why it won't work. Just make sure that your R4i can work on the firmware the N3DS comes with.

Right I just realized this since my old 2 GB SD card had only a visible 800 MB of total storage.
I did a straight copy onto new card, however my 3DS gave me a prompt saying that there was no SD card inserted. Old SD works fine however. Was going to start the process all over again but realized i dont have my blue card anymore lol.
