My 3ds is at 9.0.0-20U Will Gateway work with it?

Read carefully before posting... "We recently reached a major milestone and now we are happy to announce that we are in the process of finalizing our support for 3DS systems running System Firmware 9.0.0-20 / 9.1.0-20J / 9.2.0-20 natively!"

Or look at Gateway's post: http://www.gateway-3ds.com/support-for-firmware-9-0-9-2-coming/

Sorry, I know next to nothing about flash cards x.x. So in my blissful ignorance i thought maybe the "U" wouldn't make a problem. I guess I'm out of luck. Is a version for my firmware possible? (Sorry for lame questions)

The "U" just stands for what region your 3DS is in. You're fine. It will work on the current firmware you're on.

See, this is why this thread should be rewritten to be more noob friendly.

There are people who definitely don't know ship about the technical information of the 3DS and believe me, some people don't even know the number of the version of their 3DSes.

Pretty much "came back" to post just to join in on the hype and conversation with you mates here. Been mostly VERY silent and lurking whilst not logged in.

On-topic:

Let's see what Gateway brings to us, yeah? Keeping on with the speculation, I'm keen in believing that Gateway warns people to not advance beyond 4.5 for the sole fact of commodity. As someone said earlier in the thread "why fix what isn't broken?" It's not like Nintendo's firmware upgrades did wonders and marvels anyways.

But someone here also raised a good point when mentioning the patching Nintendo made for firmwares above so.. Those exploits won't work anymore.. So.. What gives? I'm confident Gateway's team is more than capable of doing a better job that the Sky3DS team. Not trying to throw any punches here, just putting a bit more faith than usual in them.

Also, I'm a firm believer in thinking that Gateway already had this move planned for quite some time. They just waited for the right opportunity to do so. What better way to announce it than 3 days after a competing flashcard arose with a solution to (apparently) one of Gateway's problems? It's just marketing genius. Furthermore, even without a deadline, they did announce they're in the final stages of developing that new update so.. A beta will come up soon for "whomever" wants to test it, and a public patch soon afterwards.

All in all, I just hope gateway becomes region-free, even with support for the new firmware. These are indeed exciting times, and a whole slew of people will be joining us soon enough.

Might want to remove that link, like, now. You aren't allowed to link to their site :x

I'm wondering if they'll release before Saturday with ORAS being released this weekend... It would be in their best interest as it'd definitely increase sales.

Also, another good site is eachmall. I paid $70 after conversion rates and whatnot, and although I opted for snailmail shipping, it came in roughly two weeks. They have faster shipping options, although it is a bit more expensive that way.

why am I under the impression that all of us in NA are fucked? Sky3ds, ssspwn and GW will release their "big guns" way before N3DS comes out here :(

I'm wondering much the same. With both ORAS and Australians release of the New 3DS being on the 21st, it seems probable that they'll aim to time it around that same date.
Smea apparently announced his date on the 22nd possibly for much the same reasons (New 3DS EU region release).

It makes you wonder what would be smarter, waiting untill AFTER that date, or beating that date and betting on increase sales hype.

Wouldn't be so sure. For one, there's no knowing for sure whether the US devices are already being made (in which case they'll carry the current firmware).

I think you're onto something there. It really would be in their best interest to do so. Not that anyone would probably get their Gateways one or two days afterwards.. But still .. It is a possibility.

Pre-orders for ORAS skyrocketed already, so it isn't farfetched at all.

Australian release ;) , the rest of EU will see it ... In January, I believe? I think we have the same launch date as NA.

And the australian device is EU-region locked... So you can bet that a lot of people will be importing them.

@BigArnold, sorry but i cant, i dont have a switch. also what k3nv2 says is a joke
  • B @ BigArnold:
That's what I figured. I put a post up in a forum but no one seems to replying to posts there. I also don't what this chat is attached to.

    General chat as it implies

@BigArnold, try posting in the "switch noob paradise" thread
  • B @ BigArnold:
That's where I put it. But like I said other people's posts from a day or two ago have no responses. I'm not sure if the chat is part of the Nintendo forum that I'm on or a part of the website as a whole.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigArnold, part of the website as a whole

    then try making a thread
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
wait you are too new to be able to do that
  • B @ BigArnold:
That's fine. I'll find my way.

@BigArnold you put the fusee or hekate.bin in the hekate/ payloads folder, or use app to push the payload to switch while its in rcm mode

  • B @ BigArnold:
The problem is is that TegraGUI isn't detecting my Switch despite it being plugged in and in RCM or maintenance mode.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Did you click install driver inside the tegra app.
  • B @ BigArnold:
I did all of that stuff and it seemed successful but still nothing. The only thing different from the guide I used was that my device wasn't showing up as APX but rather Nintendo Switch.
  • B @ BigArnold:
I did it inside the Tegra app and Zadig.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Try a different USB c cable, or different USB port on your pc.
  • B @ BigArnold:
I tried a different port and don't have another cable. I'm fairly certain there's no issue with the equipment I'm using.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Some cheap USB c cables don't send data, they only charge
  • B @ BigArnold:
The cable is usually used to connect my controller to my switch's dock.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Only other thing Id suggest is using a phone/tablet and use the Rekato app, or different pc
  • B @ BigArnold:
    Okay then.
    Thanks for your help.
