Hi ppl,

Since there have been no meaningful updates since summer and stuck on firmware 7.2 or thereabouts, the mt card is becoming irrelevant on the 3ds scene?

The MT development team have failed?

What are the current mt card owners doing now?

No Supersmash bros, Pokemon X and Y fail on start up (Save game data probs)

What are peoples opinions?

I thought it was still in discussion whether mt development team copied from gateway, after all mt first brought multi rom. I do concede software menu similarities.

Certainly gateway are far better at supporting their user base with updates, MT Card team seem to have withered on the vine....and shrivelled up !

A lot of us were around during the R4 Clone Saga. I remember buying around twenty fake R4 clones for about two bucks a pop at one point.

It's actually kind of exciting that new competitors are arriving on the scene. Competition breeds better prices, better products and better value.

I just looked in my desk at work. I STILL have three unused R4 clones from years ago, which puts my total number of owned flashcards for the regular DS to six. I do not currently own a DS.

LOL.

One of their videos had GW3D in the system settings. Then they took it down and put one up without it. So they were/are definitely copying at least some of it from Gateway.
tbh it was pretty obvious they where ripping features off gateway, every time gateway came out with something a week or so later MT apparently developed it too...like the online that required a header to be in the rom, yet they had no cart dumping utility so people had to cut out the middleman and just use the GW fw to dump their games to use online

i am surprised they haven't added 7.x rom support yet, i mean it was pretty much handed to them on a plate

Why the MT team has not implemented the new Keys?
Gw team already did the hard work of finding 7.x keys and Govanify leaked it

MT-Card's MultiROM was hardware-based, but since Gateway had a better software solution, they've re-purposed that instead. After Gateway introduced bricking code, trying to copy it became less cost-effective and reverting to their old strategy was a step back. I would wager the project is abandoned unless they figure out how Gateway's software works.

Tell us the story. I remember being confused by it all and just getting an AceKard.

Could be the loader needs significant changes to make it use the key/use it at the correct times and they don't know how to do it. Gateway also added the check for the card with 7.x, so might not be able to pass that to just do a straight copy from Gateway.

Also the possibility that it's not technical and they simple shut up shop when the 7.X keys were deemed "uncrackable" and haven't come back.

once upon a time there was the R4 card....then hundreds of clones appeared from different teams all wanting a piece of the pie and priced each other into the gutter, iirc the actual original R4 team only ever made the original R4's all the rest are just clone teams who used the name to sell their card....and to this day the name R4 is still used by idiot cloners to sell their clone cards XD

whenever i hear the name "R4" i just think cheap crap :P

You did the right thing, Acekard stood the test of time thanks to AKAIO, it was the next best thing after DSTwo. If not for the fact that the save IC got blocked eventually, it would've been around to this day.

This. I got an AceKard2i with RTS after I got my first 3DS, and it is bounds and away better than any other card that isn't the DSTwo.

Probably one of the finest days in that era was when we all got Wood at the same time.

So if the MT development team are still working...they're working on hacking gateway software to incorporate into MT software ? Looks like they're around 3-4 months behind at least? Maybe Gateway did something with their code to make it really difficult to hack. Maybe MT development team is 1 person ?!
