120$ is was released by a website which pre-sell sky3ds. However that doesnt mean, that the final price will be 120$, but i guess they want make big profit. So it wont be cheap, anyway.
Indeed. They can basically charge whatever they want until another group releases an exploit for 9.0 systems. So of course they're going to charge a premium. And there will be plenty of people willing to pay that price for convenience without even realizing how much they're being screwed.

E) people who rarely play videogames
F) people who are unable to maintain sysNAND to 4.5 without fucking up, or parents with young children who may fuck everything up
G) people who buy things on a whim and would rather spend triple the amount for the instant convenience rather than having to bother to find an old 3DS (read: 99% of the population in any first world country)
H) people with multiple systems for the entire family, none of them being <4.5
I) people who are using a friend's system, so they have no right to replace them (in this case, if you're only interested in a bunch of games your friend doesn't own, getting this card would actually save you money compared to getting a new system for yourself)
J) people who, brace yourselves, do not browse GBAtemp to inform themselves but just want to pop in something that "just works", so they wouldn't know/want to dabble into the more tricky piracy methods
K) people who aren't willing to risk ever waiting X days to buy a new game off eShop, to wait for GW's emunand update, because they have very little time available to them

Assuming this will not be blocked/will work on several firmwares after 9.0, there is an infinitely bigger market than there is for GW, contrary to what everyone here says that it's an useless/worthless card. Remember people: the majority of people playing videogames are low commitment casuals, it's not hacking enthusiasts. Even more so for a nintendo handheld.

Most of you should know that random people made a fortune selling local parents DS flashcarts marketed as "magical play-20-games solution for your kids' DS for just 100$!", profiting incredible amounts out of it by exploiting their ignorance.
The parents do not know that it's the best alternative. They are presented the only alternative they know, they see it objectively saves them some money, and they just do it on a whim.

If the card works like it promises, it will have a huge market even with the greedy limitation. The only thing that can destroy it is if it gets reverse-engineered and the limit removed. That would be pretty cool for the people. I'm also certain the GW team will try to tear it apart and pick it up as a higher firmware solution, and give it superior support/features. So that all the asshurt from GW drones can finally stop.

Personally I see this card as a gift from heaven- I am >> new << to the 3DS market and as a costumer who wish to cherish the 3DS but also must be supported by piracy(because money), I like the limit for the same reason many hates it, I will have to "calculate" whether I want to pirate such and such game or buy it, as technically I do pay for both some amount... and have to hassle with shipping once in a while, ALSO I COULD SHARE MY PIRATED GAMES WITH FRIENDS WHO DON'T PIRATE(who might also like and buy the game)! and have the latest firmware patch, where I couldn't with the GW unless we both pirate games "regularly", and it's not always the case.

The only sad thing to me, is that I cannot reload old NAND,firmwares... if this gets blocked somehow

Don't really see incentive to switch, since the Gateway team has been fast, their coding is fantastic, and we have completely support.

There are only 2 real serious advantages to this new card:

1 - The ability to run on FW higher than 4.5

2 - The ability to use it on the new 3DS

It's always good to have competition, but I think depending on how things go the Gateway team might just reverse engineer the new card and try to incorporate aspects into their code. I don't know how the technical stuff works though, so I don't know how plausible it is.

To be Honest again, unless someone will not want more than playing 10 games and will not "have" to get N3DS, then instead of buying 2 of those you can buy a 4.1-4.5 3DS. (unless of course like was said before that the buyer cant get a 3ds but somehow can get this flashcart)

The one major advantage that Gateway has over Sky3DS is the fact that I can remain on 4.5 firmware without updating.
Let's be honest, Nintendo will eventually figure out how Sky3DS works and patch it quick.

Do I care?

No, because I'm still on 4.5. Thank you for Emunand, Gateway.

when i heard it was 10 games and gets locked i purchased a brand new 4.4 3ds xl and a card.. forwards not backwards.

so you can only put 10 games on and if you want to change games you have to buy another card? Is that true? I read about 10 pages, I can't read through all 46+ pages..
What is the point of this card if the games are locked? If it costs $120 then that's $12 per game.. why not just buy the games at that point?

Maybe the sky3ds will have much lower price, like Gateway. Its nice to have competition so people can decide.
Although I would never give up on GW.

True, may be an "achievement" but WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE TO PIRATE?!

That is all this thing looks like: another piracy device like the R4! Why not work on a home-brew exploit instead of trying to get retail games running on a fake card?!

IMO, this whole thing here is poor form. Never liked piracy, never will, as it feels cheap playing a game on some download cart...

This card sounds like a good way to make people grow up and understand your money is better off going to the content makers. It's great, this thing screams "I'm a ripoff."

I wonder why do you even bother comparing this crappy cart with Gateway at all.
If all of this are true eventually Gateway will "add" these features to their card.
So just wait and see. :)
