I've never played any of the previous installments of SSB. Downloaded the demo for the 3DS version, and wow, this game is awesome. Still didn't discover why two buttons to jump and how the items work though.

I guess everyone's gotta start somewhere but for those playing Smash first time on a 3DS that's.. Not exactly the best experience they'd get out of it.

November, please get 'ere already.

Anyone else notice R.O.B's default skin in the local version is the actual NES colours instead of the Japanese Famicom design?
Glad they fixed that, it really shitted me in Brawl, having the odd famicom one show up all the time.

Did you guys see there's a world map highlighting the people online?
Of course japan is completely lit up, there's a couple dots in the US, about 4 pixels through europe, some dots near japan and one on Australia.
I imagine in a few days most of the world will be lit up.
Fun to see.

That's normal because of region barriers. Over here in the US, we had the normal NES design. Are you saying you guys always had the silly Famicon look, even though you guys had the NES' too?

Nah I just mean in Brawl we all had the famicom R.O.B, you had to cycle through the skins to see the one we recognise, and the artwork/trophies/etc all had the famicom colours.

Over here we had the Nes skin. That's odd that they left it as the Famicon version for the European release.

*drumrolls*

TheGameCollection has dispatched my Smash Bros. 3DS copy today!!! So I'll be able to play it before October 3!

Fuck yeah! I'm hyped as hell to play the full version!!

Btw, they spelt dispatched as "despatched" while it's not wrong, it is the proper British English spelling but it just looks so wrong nonetheless.

Hmm, are you sure?
I checked on Youtube, a couple videos of American gamers had the Japanese one as default. (/watch?v=UeL-w_0LafE /watch?v=W5qCLQnoCJE)
Plus don't you remember in all the cutscenes for example?

Nerp, he was in NES form in all the cutscenes of my game. Maybe the American gamers are using a European rom?

EDIT: After looking at some cutscenes, maybe I'm wrong. I have no recollection of him being in his Famicom form when I owned the game.

Single player mode is kind of weak... which is... a shame. Ever since it was announced they were dropping Subspace, I was worried, but now I have confirmed firsthand that nothing they offer comes even close. I never cared about the cutscenes which were alegedly why Sakurai removed it... they could have just made the fucking thing without them and it would be just as well.

Yeah, the lack of Subspace made this game more disappointing for me... And Sakurai's excuse was garbage. It sounds just like the Ice Climbers deal, they didn't implement it due to time restraints, and instead feed us lies to cover that up.

It's ok, for a game like this multiplayer is what matters in the long run. Just hope that the netcode holds up once the game is in everyones hands.

He also came out with a reason recently as to why the circle pad pro does not work for super smash bros 3ds.

LOL, it doesn't?! But guess what does work with it; the tiny little nub on the "New 3DS"!

Gimmicks fucking everywhere with the 3DS now, it's repulsive.

I'm not into online multiplayer... Smash is only fun played at one in the morning with good friends over cheap beer. Otherwise, much like a lot of people I enjoy this game as a homage to all things Nintendo, and a sort of collect-a-thon interactive museum. With Subspace this was a really fun task! The current "hey, here's a random map that kind of gets generated in a sort o cohesive way, now run!" approach is shit in comparison...

I don't mean I won't play it or anything. I'm just really fucking disappointed. This could have been IT. But it's not.

Some news article said:
According to Sakurai, supporting the Circle Pad Pro requires actual use of the CPU's processor.

This right here, is complete utter bullshit. A single extra input source puts a tole on the CPU?! Is the programming involved with the circle pad pro so badly done that it actually hinders processing power? These excuses are incredibly idiotic, and the amount of people believing them just proves how stupid some people are.

Just got it now!

I have to say while I like the packaging, game and all I find the title of it pretty stupid "Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS" and then on the top or side it says "Nintendo 3DS".
