Does Mario Kart 8 allow you to party up with a friend and then go online or is it just what 1 v 1 or something?

You can download the v1.0 update of e-shop but no one there online to play.

yes mk 8 does. you can go online with someone at the same console.

Why people want to go online when the game is not released yet. I wouldn't do that. Don't want to risk anything even no one is ever banned because of that.

I downloaded the new v1.0 online patch just clicked on Y for e-shop when it asked me, then I went to the online section in SSB and went into a battle but you start off with CPU characters until someone comes in but at the moment no one is there probably because its not out until the 3rd. I played someone but I think that was just lucky. It should say Online in the bottom right hand corner when you are connected but I will try again later

No its just the same as playing someone with the retail version as long as your SSB rom is patched with a header it will work the same, no different but you find the servers will be become more active on the 3rd, I would wait until then for some good matches and more fun!

I don't know for sure, maybe you will have to wait for the USA dump to be able to get the v1.0 patch off e-shop for online play I was lucky because its a euro release so the patch is on my e-shop. Have you tried by selecting Y for e-shop when you click on the game, see what it does?

I know that with the Pokemon games, the patch is universal or something along those lines. I'm currently in the download process. So I'll update when I can, if it's not answered by then B)

I'm hoping that I can play against USA friends with a EU game (Locally and online), and access the dlc/patches. Otherwise, I'd likely be better off waiting for the USA dump

Oh didnt know about cant party up before joining a race. I just join a friend's race thats fine to me.

The "For Fun" and "For Glory" modes are specifically for playing with randoms online. If you play with friends you can customize the match rules any way you want. I don't see the problem here.

Well this wasn't an official release, just a ROM dump thanks to a broken street date. I fail to see how this counts as a "Europe gets everything first, America always gets screwed" thing.
