An exclusive Persona 3DS has been officially announced for US release. The 3DS will be sold exclusively at Gamestop, with a price of $199.99. There is currently no known release date for the 3DS. The 3DS will come without Persona Q, and is now available for pre-order from Gamestop.

The design evokes the essence of Persona Q with the iconic Grimoire styling on the front--the tome used by the attendants of the Velvet Room and containing information on the many Personas--along with the new character designs on the back. The hardware will be sold exclusively in GameStop for the suggested retail price of $199.99.

For fans who have pre-ordered Persona Q or the Persona Q Premium Edition, the Persona Q 3DS XL will be sold as hardware only. So there's no need to worry about possibly doubling up on the game or missing out on the bonus goods included in both versions.

That's the point. Why release a new 3DS if we already know that the New 3DS is coming?
God Nintendo you and your dumb names... Also this probably wont release in Europe so meh.

maybe its for the people who aren't so ridiculously triggered about the whole new 3ds thing? new 3ds doesn't make original 3ds obsolete. at all.

anyways, dont really care about persona q. unless it changes the things i hated about the etrian odyssey games (specifically mining items, forcing certain classes to make a viable party and really slow exp gain, but also easily screwing up skills early)

You don't need to be ridiculously triggered by it to know that sooner or later people will regret the purchase. Especially since more New 3DS exclusives will come to make use of the new Hardware to create games that wouldn't be possible on a normal 3DS.
TBH New 3DS should have happened with the 3DS XL years ago.

and this is exactly where you're wrong. just as with the dsi, noone will abandon the huge classic user base for long just to make exclusives and use the better hardware. at best, we'll get a handful of exclusives before everyone realizes that only about 10% of 3ds users will make the switch, at which point they'll end up making enhanced games at best. they will immediately leave the user base acquisition to nintendo, who might end up making more exclusive games for a while, or not. seriously, this is not the end of the world.

Except the DSi and the DSi XL made up about 1/4 of the total DS line sales, with about 40 million sales total. If Nin10doh didn't fuck up the whole "DSi Exclusives" thing it would've no doubt sold a ton more, so I would assume the same case would be for the new 3DS.

But knowing Nin10doh, they will.

There are some vital differences between the DSI and N3DS. Nintendo just needs to announce the right games on the new 3DS and enough people will upgrade / consider the New 3DS over an other model.

implying that nintendo will have a must have launch lineup in a 'new' console. that's a good one.

woulda-coulda.
40 million and 1/4th sounds a lot, but you also know at which point it reached those numbers, right? by the end of the ds's lifespan. and 1/4th doesn't sound all that incredible when you consider that it is still part of the 4/4th that you could sell normal ds games too. even if it had sold twice as well, 'just ds games' would still have a much bigger potential market, especially in the very beginning, where loads of exclusives would sell the console, but wont be produced because thats how third parties treat nintendo. they don't invest in 'maybe it will sell like hotcakes' so it wont sell like hotcakes. now, if nintendo were to pull all other 3ds models from the market... but that wont happen either.

just stop seeing the end of the world in this thing, you literally won't miss out on more than a handful games.

is it so hard to type "Nintendo"? You come off as a tool every time you replace it with your oh-so-clever pet-name.

Actually that's exactly what it means, the old 3ds is completely obsolete now. Stated clearly by Nintendo themselves.

I don't really understand why anyone would buy a styled console when they already have the same thing in a different color. I understand why Nintendo does it (for monies), but for consumers, they should just buy a faceplate, or pay someone to draw/paint one for them. I have some friends that are talented artists, and I'd rather give them money to draw something cool on my 3DS instead of paying $200 for an entirely new console.

If this was a N3DS (is that what we're abbreviating it as, now?) that'd be different. But a regular 3DSXL that will come with a firmware higher than 4.5? No thanks.

This would be totally sick. It just doesn't make any sense with the new 3ds coming out though. I would probably buy this if that wasn't the case. I guess I will have to cry myself to sleep instead.

Only model I care bout is the one shaped like the NES controller.

Still confused as to why these new editions when we already KNOW that there is a new 3DS model with upgraded hardware coming. But at the same time, this gives me hope. Why?

After a freak accident killed my original NES GBA SP, I'd been searching for years to find a replacement NES edition SP shell. I've found places with replications and the like of every *Expletive* color under the sun, except the NES edition. "but just buy the famicom one" *EXPLETIVE* OFF I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE FAMICOM ONE, I want the NES one. btw, I'm still searching for that Classic NES SP shell... :gba:

This new edition coming out at least tells me that hopefully within a month after release, some parts stores will start carrying these new shells, so I can change up the look of my 3DS XL and retain Gateway 3DS compatibility. Best of both worlds. :yaynds:

Even wiith having my red 3DSXL, and a EU White 3DSXL, I still want that Smash XL. And I'll end up getting a N3DS as well. Darn it Nintendo, stop taking my money...
