I haven't got any flash carts yet but I'm reading that flashcarts may need hardware revisions.

R4i Gold Deluxe 3ds is like $20 cheaper than Gateway/Mt-Card but it can't play and save card type 2 games yet due to hardware limitations.

How many Card type-2 games are there and will the latest games use card type-2 saving also?

If R4i Gold Deluxe does get a revision later on, would the price be similar to that of Gateway and making that a bad investment on my part?

Is gateway future proof?

For right now, the only Card-2 games are Pokemon X/Y and Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

However, cheaper cards also will not let you use more recent firmware in emunand as well, which creates another large list of games which would not work with the card.

No card is future proof but the Gateway is the best card out there, considering how much money you save by downloading roms its probably best to buy the Gateway, especially since its more unlikely that your 3ds would be bricked, hence costing you a load lot of money.

GW still has brick code in its code so you may brick your 3DS (like the last time lol).

I didn't have my 3DS/GW when that episode happened, but surely you are like 99% more likely to be bricked if you buy one of the other cards instead of a GW

but it pretty much backfired bricking more GW users 3DS than other
tbh its didn't really hit that many people at all....but i would say it defiantly got more clone users than gateway users....but that's not to say any bricking was good...but basically gateway users got bricked by running diagnostics a bunch of times...where as R4 & Co where bricked simply by using the firmware.

if your scared of being bricked i suggest you get no flashcard at all...i would say banking on GW not making the same mistake twice would be better than hoping gateway doesnt find a nice new sneaky way to f**k with the clones....because no matter how bad their ethics with the whole bricking stuff they are very talented hackers, there's no denying that....the simple fact that not 1 separate independently developed card has appeared speaks volumes....unfortunately gateway is the best there is atm

Not that this applies to me, I rather risk a brick and use my Gateway card and 3ds

But was the MT card ever bricked, I remember reading somewhere that it wasn't at all?

yeah but MT where late to the party and as a result of the bricking episodes conveniently dropped the emunand support etc from their initial release......kinda like saying a bomb went off but luckily i ducked when i heard about it on the news

but idk MT do seem a lot more competent at cloning the gateway firmware and are usually hot on their heels ripping off features, where as R4 etc are generally months behind after the bricking stuff and even now dont have a completely stable launcher

but really the way MT are getting is what R4 did i.e blindly ripping and throwing it out without proper testing...i dont know how good MT are at cloning but confidence leads to arrogance which in turn leads to falling for tricks and gateway have already proven they like to use underhand tactics against cloners

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb

    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
