Let's think about "last time" - meaning the Wii online shop.
The library of games was not that big, also lacking some titles. I dont expect we'll have a "full collection" of DS games in the end either, which is sad. Licenses should be also a problem here. The World Ends With You, Ghost Trick, Hotel Dusk, 999, Another Code etc. - will they really be released so easily again?
Don't get me wrong - This whole thing is definitely something good. But the more cheaper way for people would be buying a Nintendo DS (which is not that old by the way) / 3DS and have access to all the -other- good titles out there.
My vote would have been on the gamecube side to be honest. Same "problems", but more logical in my opinion.
