This is just something I wanted to make for a while, but never did until now.

Potential Attack Vectors:
  • Amiibo NFC Figures. If I'm gonna buy any hardware then it'll be a cool figure that I can show off to my friends and use anywhere :P EDIT: Oh come on, they aren't even out yet, we don't even know how they work, so until we do they aren't dismissable yet, and besides, it doesn't have to specifically be Amiibo, but NFC in general. It wouldn't be that impossible to exploit a function and then redirect and load a file from an SD using assembly, especially with the dynamic linking.
  • QR Codes. (IDK of anything that uses them other then Miis, but....)
  • Internet Browser. Should be fairly obvious considering that's what we're already using :P
  • Savegames/data. We need a key to decrypt the drives it formats, but we are working on that, so...
  • Miiverse. Just go to a certain post and tada.
Potential Applications:
  • An eShop for homebrew ala the Homebrew Browser.
  • Twitch Console streaming like on PS4. (Dammit Nintendo)
  • Fan-Made Content ala Project M or CTGPR.
  • A different OS (There's been talks about Linux for a while now)
  • Emulators/Virtual Console
  • Region Unlocking :P
That's all I can think of right now, but feel free to post anything you think would be cool, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks there's a lot of potential with this.

I doubt we'll see an XBMC port, maybe a Showtime port or Wiimc (WiiUMC) :)
A PPSSPP port would be awesome on the WiiU.

But... don't you think it would be possible?, I mean, the Miiverse admins can delete the post... and for the save hacking, it would be good :), I can't win Mario Kart 8 150cc speed because it appears to be the CPU to spawn near of you, the 12 players are attacking you by green and red koopas every second... but this is another history (sorry about that xD)

Wii/GC games in 1080P 60FPS
Well, some of that it is already... Nintendont upscale the Gamecube games to 1080p in vWii mode so it's useless ( ok no, I'm joking), to make that, we would need a GameCube Emulator, but I don't think all of that would be possible, and plus, some games like Zelda Wind Waker are not designed to run at these speeds, it is 30fps so 60fps would be running a 100% more...
For me, having the games with lower jaggies would be enough for me. (GameCube or Wii)

XBMC does pretty much what tc has mentioned plus more so that is what we need, plus the region unlocking, cheat code support and removing the encryption on the save files would be nice too.

That can't be done in Nintendont, as it's a virtual machine and is limited to native res, an emulator would be the only way to do it, and PC is pretty much the only platform that can emulate it at a good speed; the processing power required for emulation is pretty high.

I could care less about all the other stuff but Homebrew apps.
I really hope that Nintendo starts putting DS games in the eShop, I am looking forward to that, and if Homebrew is possible in the near future, then a NDS/3DS emulator for the Wii U, it will suit perfectly. Imagine playing all the Zelda titles in your Wii U!
All the Castlevania DS titles, Golden Sun Dark Dawn and much others... Oh god it's too much!

And now image PSP, PS2 (hopefully if the hardware can support it) and a proper N64/PSX emulators this time!
I am pretty much settled with N64 emulator and RE2 :D

You can't just convert the GX commands to (whatever the GPU the Wii U is using) commands?
We have 3 PPC cores... We can use one to emulate the game, one to translate the GX commands, and we have an extra one.

I don't know, but Dolphin requires an awful lot of CPU power regardless. The hardware would be put under a lot of stress.

Nintendo DS emulation on the big screen is what I'm really interested in, although I reckon that could be achieved with hacking the Gamepad alone. Also, this: With GBA being on the Wii U Controller. Lots of potential in that gamepad...

  • Miiverse. Just go to a certain post and tada. Nintendois very cautious, they would not let another buffer overflow in miiverse (even if there was it would get block)

ps2 is a definate no no. not even the ps3's can play them without having a 3key or and old backwuds compatable fat ps3. but psp on the other hand i was looking at but still i doubt its gonna work well with what the wii u supplys. i ran ppsspp on a kindle fire hdx 7 (4cores and 2.4GHz proccessor) and it only just about played burnout domination and tekken 6

A hacked PS3 can play Ps2 games, converted to PS2 Classics (pretty decent compatibility too) and there was a POC PPSSPP port to the 360 and played a few games at fullspeed.

Also if Ninty release more DS eshop titles, whats the chances of injecting roms into them once the system is hacked like VC on the Wii?

mfw OP is listing Amiibo and QR codes as potential vectors.

QR codes don't carry the required amount of information, and unless Nintendo does something entirely crazy with Amiibos, neither will they.

Before people read this and start doubting the usefulness of the browser, I need to say a few things. First of all, the web browser was the attack vector used by fail0verflow to hack the Wii U. Second, WebKit is a great attack vector because it's complex (meaning many bugs), has a JIT (making it easier to defeat NX), and is open (meaning it's easy to find bugs in it). Third, if you've paid attention to recent news, you'd also know that I have found another usable bug in WebKit.

Miiverse uses HTML and Javascript. In other words, it's WebKit-based too. However, Nintendo does not allow inserting arbitrary HTML or Javascript code, meaning that we'd need a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability to trigger it on Miiverse. The browser is a much better target.
