I have to second Slartibartfast as there are actually quite a few very good games out for WiiU both full releases and eShop. So many games get discounted within a few months because of weak sales so I have gotten 3/4 of my library cheap (which is nice). Sure if you have played a lot of the multi-plats on ps360 then the library is thinner, but there are lots of good reasons to own a WiiU now.

Nintendo published:

1. Mario Kart 8
2. DKC Tropical Freeze
3. Pikman
4. Zelda WW HD
5. Mario 3D World
6 Super Mario and Super Luigi Bros
7. W101 (totally under appreciated game)
8. Nintendoland (this is currently the best party game on wiiU)
9. Lego City

3rd party:

AC4 (very well done, noticeably better than ps360) and AC3
Splinter Cell (same and considering it didn't get a ps4/xb1 version WiiU is the best version)
Deus EX Directors Cut (WiiU best version)
NFS MW (WiiU best version)
Batman AC (WiiU best version) and AO
Skylanders
Disney Infinity
COD BO2/Ghosts
Rayman (WiiU best version)
Injustice GAU (WiiU better than ps360)
Tekken Tag 2
ZombieU (another underappreciated game if you don't mind a slower pace horror game)
ME3
Darksiders 2
RE Revelations

So there is a lot of good content and while some ports are better than others in many instances WiiU does better than people let on. In Splinter Cell sure the game has some long load times when launching a mission, but the textures and frame rate are so much better and no tearing which is really bad on ps360 versions.

I think Nintendo will have a strong second half release schedule again so by years end we should see even more top titles. The current and 2014 library looks significantly better than anything on my shiny ps4 paperweight (till 2015), add to that the fact that with vWii mode you can have the entire Wii library, run GC games from SD card with devolution, have the entire VC and Wiiware libraries so the WiiU (like the Wii) is the best legacy gaming machine available.

Most ports are worse. Check Digital foundry. AC4, AC3, Batman have worse framerate than PS3 and 360. Splinter Cell missing content. PS Vita version of Rayman has features of Wii U version.

Sorry, but there is something about actually owning the game that I enjoy. You get the cas,e the game and the instructions.. It's the best feeling to be able to look at my cartridges and I wish I kept all the boxes when I was a kid... Give me a case anyday (although hurry up and release a back up launcher so I can back up my games and load them off my hd!)

Not a must-have for me, since the game library is still small. I got pretty much all the games I would ever want to play on the Wii U at the moment. Also only a few interesting titles coming out in the next year or so (at least the revealed ones), so that won't change much..

EDIT: Also I'd wait for a review before buying it. Not really doubting the team or the device, but a good device can work badly. Especially with a bad firmware version.

I think digital foundry is smoking crack half the time.......I have actually played Splinter Cell all the way thru on x360 and am now playing on WiiU and the render engine is much, much better....sure the game is missing local co-op (which means nothing to me BTW) but the grafx are noticeably better.

Also, I played several hours of AC4 on PS3 and the frame rate was terrible with dropping so bad it made it un-fun....I have played many hours on WiiU and it is much better and the game uses higher-res textures and better effects. I have seen comparison videos online that often show WiiU FMVs hiccupping or stuttering yet Ubi fixed that with SC and AC4 with a launch day patch. So you can spout the online comparison stuff all you like, but unless you have played the game on multiple systems there is really no way to tell what looks/feels/plays better. Some ports are worse or lack features but Ubi at least did much better with their second generation ports SCBL and AC4. Knit picking is what a lot of the comparisons stuff is as I played launch ports Batman AC, ME3, and NBA2K on WiiU and while they had some hiccups in areas, overall the frame rates were not an issue and did not sour the gaming experience.

WiiU just gets ragged on so much and I get tired of hearing it. It is only 18 months old and already has a decent library. I could care less about AAA Multi-plats as I can play them on anything, I would like to see more collaborations (like F-zero with sega or SSB with Namco) and see things like GC on VC and some games that use cross play/save with 3DS.

Last point and that is offTV....some people really could care less about it. Personally I love it, and if you have a wife or family that you share the media room with then offTV is an awesome feature as you can't always dominate the TV. offTV allows for very discrete gaming and once the TV is free I can seamlessly transition to onTV. More than the failings of the hardware (which I admit could have had more punch), I think Nintendo has just stunk on marketing the WiiU, describing its appeal, and building quality dual screen or asymmetrical co-play experiences. If Nintendo is serious about extending dual screen gaming beyond WiiU then they are going to have to start making compelling games on WiiU that use the technology. I for one hope they do.

Is there an estimated sales date for Wii Key U that we know of? I'm interested in getting one for region free possibilities until Homebrew comes out.

Smash at the end of the year will come out in Japan before America/Europe, it's HAL, it's what they do. :(
